348......wet sump or dry sump oiling system?

Anybody know what the 348 has for an oiling system? Wet or dry?

Thanks.

Yep - it's a dry sumped Tipo F119D for the 300bhp models, or a dry sumped F119H engine for the 320bhp models.

It's dry. It's the same engine block as the 355 and the 360.

Even the older 328 is dry sumped.

More stupid 348 questions

Stradale,
You mentioned in the previous post that the 355 and 360 have the same block as the 348.
Is it just the cylinder liner size that is different?
Also, I am assuming that the 348 has 4 valve heads (I wasn't able to confirm this from the owners manual CD-ROM I bought)
I have seen reference that the 355 has 5 valve heads. Is this true, and does the 360 also have 5V?
The reason I'm asking all the questions. I bought a low miles 348 motor to use in a special project and I like to know if other parts fit.

Thanks for any help.

Block is the bottom half of the engine. The 348, 355 and the 360 share the same block. Only the heads (the top of the engine) are different for the different models.

The 348 is 3.4 litres and 4 valve V-8. The block is then bored to 3.5 litres and the head was developed with 5 valves for the F355 model. Again the same block was stretched again to be 3.6 litres for the 360 engine. The head remains the same though.

I can't say whether the parts for the 348 will fit the 355 engine or vice versa. You have to check the part number to be sure. Part numbers don't change even when it is used for another model.

Affirmative, it is a wet sump. Easy enough to check thanks to Daniel at Ricambi..
