Ball/Spring Set Install

I did some searching and could not come up with an "easy" way to re-install the cover + the spring/ball set.

Anyone have any tips on how to do it?

My car is on jacks.

Tranny is in the car.

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks!!

Didn't someone say to put some grease on the balls and springs to hold them in place?

That works for the balls.
Still have to hold the springs in place against the cover.

Here's a picture of mine I did last winter.

The grease is holding everything.

Grease is your friend. Embrace it.

So, where did you add the grease to hold it all in place? On the springs? How much? Does it matter? Do I have to worry about residue getting into the tranny oil and causing problems?

Thanks!

Nothing crazy. Just enough around the springs to hold them up there.

Im no expert on this and cant vouch for it, but Ill say no to residue getting into the tranny oil and causing problems. Hopefully a expert will chime in on that part.

But don't wait forever to get the pan up. Gravity is a factor.

Used the grease-to-hold-springs and got it up, no problem.

Thanks.
