Fuel pressure regulator 308QV

Can anyone tell me if the fuel pressure regulator should regulate against atmospheric pressure or not ? I am thinking of the little rubber hose at the end of the regulator. Should this be connected to the vakuum of the plenum or not ?

The part is a Bosch 0438161013.

The reason I'm asking is that in the workshop manual of the car it says it should regulate against atmospheric pressure. Am I wrong when I believe that this means not to the plenum ? Several mechanics says this can not be correct and that it should be connected to vakuum

To be fair, this is not a 308QV but a Lancia Thema 8.32 with slightly altered QV-engine

The only place in a Ferrari where I see that part used is in the Swiss version of the 328.

In some cars it would be connected to vacuum and in some cars it would just be a vent, it all depends on the application and how they chose to use it on THAT PARTICULAR APPLICATION. Without access to a Lancia Thema 8.32 shopmanual it is impossible to comment intelligently.

Thanks Brian,

I assumed that this part was used in the 308 QV since the Lancia-version is almost equal. The only major differences I know of is the 90 deg. crankshaft, smaller valves and different firing order.

The fuel injection should be the same I thought. Apparantly not.

I have the workshop manual for the Lancia. It states that the regulator should regulate against atmospheric pressure. Which several mechanics dispute...

I am sertainly not sure what to think.
