centre console removal

Hi folks, i am replacing the a/c fan speed control on my 1987 328. I have got the old one out but can't reach in far enough to connect wires to the new one. Is there a trick to getting either the centre console out in its entirity, or the metal top off it? the latter is half off but the rear is difficult to pull up and i don't want to bend it. I've removed the obvous screws around the base of the console, ashtray and gear lever gate but it still seems a bit stuck.

The rear is held down by two screws below the four switches.

Cheers heaps. I've learned that question costs nothing, while the bit you snapped trying to pull it out often costs significantly more! Was actually a bit of a treasure trove when I lifted the console - 1 cigarette lighter, no less than 3 alarm remotes and a heap of coins..all fallen through the back of the ashtray! I got the fan controller replaced but to no avail. It still only works on full speed, so I suspect it may be a fan problem. Will start a new thread.

I'd guess one of your relays ist sticky. I can hear a relay clicking when I turn up the knob alle the way to full speed.

Wiring diagram to be found at http://www.ferraridatabase.com/The_D...0US%201989.pdf

Ok, US Version, but it helps a bit.

I can't get a working link?! Just go to www.ferraridatabase.com -> Downloads -> other manuals -> wiring diagrams 328 US

Never ever trust a computer further than you can throw it.

All sorted - it was a loose connection on one of the three wires that runs from the transistor mounted within the air conditioning duct.

I found this quite useful guide and set of pictures.... http://ferrari.cdyn.com/carl_rose_do...20cleaning.pdf

Many thanks for all the useful advice. cheers, simon
