308 rustproofing Q. Help please!

Hi all,

Does anyone know whether its possible to effectively rustproof an early (non galganised) 308? And if so, whether this is a difficult / expensive job and is it as good as galvanising? (Pls excuse my ignorance but i dont really know what aftermarket 'rustproofing' involves).

I've been given some really useful advice (warning) on this site about potential rust issues on early 308's and the bottom line is whether to rule out the non galvanised cars completely or whether as long as they are currently sound, I could buy one and get it rustproofed to keep its condition. I'm assuming tat any existing rust issues would come up on a PPI.

I will inevitably end up driving in the wet on ocassion (although i have a daily driver I do actually want to use the 308 when i get it) so this is fairly fundamental to model choice.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Its been said before but find the best car you can and go from there. In terms of rust proofing, I suppose you could strip the entire car down to the metal and zinc coat it. I've seen QVs and 328s with rust though so don't think they are completely impervious.

Current: 85' GTS QV
It's a simple process...... it's just complicated by human beings....
