On the Jon Shirley 375MM spyder turned coupe

I have read Mr. Savona's story of buying this car for $500. Here's some date on the car berfore it was Jon Shirley's car:

But I was wondering, about that Coy's offer, does it mean, if you were interested you had to put $100K down to show your bid for 1,000,000 plus was real (in other words to weed out the Lookee-Loos?). Also whose idea was it to put the one off coupe body on it after Rossellini smashed it up in roadster form--or was Rosellini game for it because he didn't care as long as he got a Ferrari to drive when they were done? Did he have any input in how it was going to look? Am I the only one who thinks it was influenced by the 300SLR gullwings (or maybe Uhlenhaut hadn't converted leftover 300SLR roadsters into coupes yet...)
Thanks for any opinions,
