"D" Test and Classiche visit

As everything seemd to be fine with "D" by now (and before the long fall trip) I thought it would be worthwhile to test "D" on a 2 day 1'600km trip.
Firstly to the Swiss italian part to the local Ferrari dealer who offered me to drive the FF. Fantastic machine, responsive, agil, fantastic brakes, great sound, power out of this world. What a great, great all day car. Love it !! Only downside ....size, of course and I never sat such high above the ground in any Ferrari, as a matter of fact higher than in any Audi or Mercedes Station wagon. That was interesting to me. but again fantastic car.

212- FF looks good in lighter colors to me, like the Argento or Grigio one you drove. The dark colors make it look very large to me.

later in the day I had my most interessting meeting with a guy who has about anything partswise from italian cars, especially those rare items which no one else, not the Ferrari factory and mostly none of the local modenese guys are able to deliver. Look at the pictures, I spent 5 hours looking at all those parts. This guy was able to send me within 1 day 2 pop up light motors, original, unused, original sparkplug cables, a Carello front lens, in original package etc. etc. you find everything there weber carburators name it...he has it... Dell Orto, Solex, keys...everything. Very nice guy too ! Some impressions...

After a short sleep over I drove today morning to Maranello, where one of the directors of the classiche department at the Ferrari factory was expecting me. It was perfect as I was there 8am in the morning to spend 2 hours in Maranello. Nobody else there except the mechanics working on the cars..... very nice...and even a parking space for "D" was preorganized. How nice !

So lets start with that..

212- That is some treasure trove of parts, no doubt. A private spot at the factory in front of the famous portal. Does not get much better than that.

That twin nostril hood scoop car is really fascinating. Is it a Mondial or TR like the one next to her?

after all, I had to return to do office work, departing 10 am from Maranello for another 650 km's back. THIS car did all the work with brutish elegance. "D" runs wonderful. Lots of power, from low rpm up to the 7'000 rpm shreek.....a dream...and a perfect travel guide again, without meaningful competition today on the autostrada and later on the passes ! ;-)
