330 GTC heat shields

My GTC is just getting the finishing touches on a repaint. I'm also cleaning up the suspension and engine comartment a bit while I'm at it. I was looking at the pics of the nice looking GTC at the gooding auction and noticed the heat shields (below the plugs) in the engine compartment are black wrinkle, which is different than what I have. Mine are black semi-gloss. The Gooding car is allegedly a 97 point Platinum car, but somehow it just doesn't quite look right. Maybe I'm just used to mine.

Should they be wrinkle or semi-gloss, what do other GTC owners have?

I am sure Marcel Massini or JazzyO will be able to confirm.

They should be satin black/semi gloss. At least, I have never seen a wrinkle finish on any GTC nor any other Ferrari of the same era and I agree that it doesn't look right. I did check with Keith Bluemel's book but it didn't say so can't 100% confirm. Just 99.9% then.

John- I just googled 330 GTC engine and most of the ones I could see were crinkle paint. Surprised me because I could not see Ferrari bothering to do that. The ones with the paint half missing on the aluminum tubes, though, appeared to be just like Onno said.

Bryan- So maybe they did bother.

Might be best to ask one of the Ferrari concourse judges.
