F360 vs e92 M3

Does a stock Ferrari F360 have the same performance as a stock BMW e92 M3?

yea i am pretty sure since 0-100km/h is 4.1 sec, and if the m3 is unlimited the top speed is 190(limited 161)

difference maybe getting to top speed, Ferrari 360 modena weight -2,840 lb
Bmw e92 M3 Coupe weight-3,704 lb

Does it really matter?

As good as the M3 is, it is still just a BMW, and who cares if it is quicker than a 360? I dare say a stock 325i is quicker than my geriatric 308, but I know which I'd rather have.

If straight line speed is the only thing that interests you, you might be missing the point of Ferrari and what it means. For straight line speed and acceleration over 1/4 mile I don't think anything will touch an Ariel Atom, and I think there are plenty of Corvettes that would leave a M3 standing.

Now you are talkin', Archie!

Who cares about a BMW and furthermore who cares how fast it is?

Ain't nothin' like a Ferrari even parked!

You are comparing a mass production car vs a piece of purpose built art.

Although having driven both, the M3 may have aslight advantge stop light
to sop light, everywhere else there's not much to compare.

Have you considered a Toyota?

These questions remind me of some I have seen on some of the japanese car sites.

It's irrelevant which is faster. Most folks drive Ferrari's for pure enjoyment. Speed is not the issue.

The performance is there if needed but why use it?

I laugh at this a lot because most of my friends are into muscle cars, being from the motorcity area. They talk about the old hotrods that blow a quarter mile in 9 seconds....and they say how it will smoke a Ferrari. Well yes, I always say.....until there is a turn, and then the muscle car will hit the wall at top speed...hehe. I have never been a old muscle car fan. The only muscle cars I am a fan of are: Vette's, Vipers, Trans Ams/Firebirds, and Camaros. I may or may not have drag raced a 348 with my '98 Firebird. He didn't pull that far ahead of me. It was pretty close....but I couldn't care less. The beauty of the car and sound far surpassed any silly drag race. I would take a 348 hands down over a 6 second Corvette any day. People just care about speed, of which you really can't tap into on public roads anyways.

Funny you should ask...

The following is a recollection of a "dream" I had (i.e. I would never break our state's speed limit laws or act this foolishly in real life):

I was on the return of my regular early Sat morning run from the suburb where I live to downtown Chi. I was going with the flow of traffic when I saw a new M3 coming up fast in the left lane. Against my better judgment, I floored it when he came past going 100-120. He made a bad choice of lane changes and got stuck behind some traffic, so I waited for him to come past again. He again came screaming by in the left lane at 100-120, so I floored it from 70-80 since there was no traffic around. I was with him in a second, but interestingly enough did not pull ahead as I had expected (I was late with a gear shift because I am still not used to how quickly the revs climb). At 140 we were coming up to traffic so I realized how foolish this was and let up. He kept screaming down the road. I also own a modified Z3, so I appreciate BMW's more than most on this board. That being said, despite being half as much new as my used 360, being infinitely more useful day to day, and service at a fraction of the price, I would not take 2 or even 3 M3's in exchange for my 360. Louis.

cool story, i also appreciate bmw's, but a reason i would not get one is the fact that i could see about 2 or 3 a day
