Hybernation tips?

Well, 20 deg F has arrived in Wisconsin. I've removed the thermal neuclear fuse from the nosecone of the Scud:

- Insurance off
- Tires to 50 psi to avoid flat spots
- Charger connected
- Dehumidifier packets placed
- Cover in place

Did I miss anything important?

08 F430 Scuderia (yellow/gray); 07 GT3 RS (black/slate); 08 CLK 63 AMG BS (black/black);
04 CGT (silver/terracotta); 08 Audi S6 (silver/black); 01 911 Turbo (silver/gray)

Looks like you covered the bases. You could disconnect the battery instead of having a charger. I've heard arguments for both. Here is an article in our archives for this same subject:

Keep a full tank of gas to avoid condensation.

I grew up in Milwaukee, lived there 32 years. Love everything there but the winters.

I saw last week in the New York Times that WI leads the country in binge drinking and DUI's. Stay off that list.

More drunks in Vail. Test that hypothesis in a few weeks. (I drink at home)

If you are going to pull the insurance, suggest you make sure it is covered under another policy for thieft or disaster (flooding, fire, etc).

Also if the garage is unheated, make sure your coolant is rated down to a point where you will not have to worry about it freezing.

I should have been more explicit: only the "rolling portion" of insurance is off. Garage is sufficiently warm (even at -4 deg F outside). Thanks.

One other suggestion would be to take the tool kit and all the books/papers out of the car and store them in house over the winter.

What are dehumidifier packs? Are they available at a local auto store? Is it really 20 degrees somewhere other than the North Pole? Fall/early Winter does seem to be coming in as temperatures seem to have dropped across Europe and the East Coast by about 10 degrees in a week.

You should be able to buy a good dehumidifier from a good auto parts specialist.
