Carbon fiber air filter cover question

HI guys,

I replaced my OEM air filter covers with the FABSPEED CF covers and to my surprise, the OEM ones have another aluminum tube (pipe?) that branches off the bottom of the front section. Am i going to have any issues because the CF ones do not have this? I'm guessing not as i've seen various other aftermarket CF airbox covers and none of them have that extra pipe. The CF ones sure look nice though... Any thoughts appreciated.

Those short pipes with closed off ends are there to reduce intake resonance. There are similar things on the plastic pipes that connect the airbox to the outside air on top of the rear bodywork. Rgds///Thomas

In our experience, fitment of these specific CF covers is poor, as it is a bit difficult to get the screws started due to misplacement of the air inlet snout...One client in particular was extremely displeased with the quality and sent them back. Other than the cosmetic aspect, I seriously doubt that the manufacturer did any intake flow analysis, as was clearly done with the OEM covers.

The 16M and Scuderia do not have those resonators. I have converted Scuderia covers to fit my car and can't say I've noticed any difference whatsoever - performance or otherwise.

Not sure if you will notice a difference, the OEM carbon version for the F430 does have the resonators so clearly Ferrari felt they were needed. My 16M doesn't have them but then the rest of the intake system is different.

'SCUD' Verb. To move fast as if driven by the wind.

just for mere looks

I wasn't looking for any performance enhancements; just purely for looks. I'll keep my eyes open for a set of OEM scud version. Until then, these will do the job and look fantastic at it. Thanks for your input fellas!

They have been trying out different solutions to solve certain resonance problems but none of them had little or any effect. Rgds///Thomas
