360 F1 Transmission bucking problem

Just bought a 2000 360 F1. When I start out in 1st (not in auto mode), and give it more than 20% gas, the carbucks. The whole car shakes and bucks back and forth. I can't figure out why this happens given it start smoothly when using less gas. Any ideas? I suspect it has something to do with the F1 transmission.

I'm sure you've had the problem sorted out by now, and I'll bet it was the clutch assembly, either pressure plate or clutch disc ?

Possible solution

I had the F1 transmission control box replaced and that helped a lot. I still get that kicking a bit in first when I hit it and it's not as bad as before. The new box also shifts the car faster into first which saves clutch wear.

There was also a software upgrade on later 360 F1's. Suggest you check to see if your car has it installed.

Boxer,

When was the F1 gearbox software upgrade introduced?

Does it apply to cars registered during 2002?

Where could I find more information on this subject ?

Donie, Suggest you send a PM to Stradale, He is one of the members here, a 360 owner and expert. I would also call your local Ferrari dealer and ask them which software update your car currently has. They should be able to give you this information based on the chassis number. Good luck. Is this a Euro or US 360 ?

Hi Boxer,

A very Happy New Year.

It's a Euro ...the car is in Spain.

I would love to be sure of my facts before confronting the dealer. If they think you don't know what you're talking about they will give you all sorts of bullsh** and talk down to you in a most appalling and patronising way.

I believe they expect you to just possess a large checkbook, but would much rather that you didn't have too much technical knowledge.

Donie, Other than the local Ferrari dealer, you might try to call the main Ferrari dealer in Spain (I believe it is in Madrid or Barcelona) and see if they can pull the information on your car up on their system. They might be able to do this with the S/N. Only other thing I can think of is sending a PM to Ferrari via the Owner site (https://www.owners.ferrari.com/).
