Richard- That is the official name for certain Ferrari cars so it is not ridiculous at all. In some cases it separates models from earlier cars with similar names, like 512M and F512M, in other cases not, like F355 and F430. In general the F prefix lately has been used on Ferraris that do not have another name, like the 360 Modena or 612 Scaglietti. F355 and F430 are stand-alone names. Of course you have the 3X8s and earlier V12s with no name, so nothing at Ferrari is ever a constant.

Who put the burr under your saddle? This is not a big deal.

If they were is separate forums maybe BUT they are not; that's why a prefix is ridiculous

I think Richard meant that a prefix is required here to start a thread in the forum where these models are already commingled. It's probably a design flaw of an IT person who doesn't understand the F models.

new around here but seems useful as there are differences. My first thought was why are they in one forum. Although since they are labeled it helps when you are looking specifically for something unique to one model.

Richard- Now I see what you meant. Ask the site owners to delete it. We do not have to do it in the V12 forum, so I had no clue what you meant.

I am an IT person and I wanted this specifically and requested it from, then, Andrew. It's called an 'index' and as below stated, makes for easier searches. My threads went something like "Mondial T : engine" or "456 : Interior" etc.

IF one goes to the 'other site' they just willy nilly put in titles that make zero sense for someone wanting to sort through tons of postings. You get lots of hits and then have to try and sort through tons of crap.

My way above, allowed one to search specifically for Model, Topic and then continue the postings.

But feel free to just not prefix a posting....then try to 'remember' that thread later.

What I wanted next, was ability to 'tag' many of the responses per thread as 'ignore'. Not from the user level but from the thread level....but I truly understand THAT is a huge db issue.

Lastly, THIS thread will now, most likely never be seen by those in most threads if they get trapped in this specific section

Rik- No option to not choose a prefix in the 360/F430 forum. You have to choose one or you cannot start a new thread.

Sorry, I did not mean to disparage the IT industry Granucci :-) I used to be an IT guy in my former life. My bad, please accept my apology.

Yes, it looks like we have to designate an F model for new threads.

Maybe it's an IT thing, because I like the feature as well.
But then, many would consider me ridiculous....

But virtually all threads naturally specify 360 or 430 or 458 in the title which would later anyway show up in a search

Unfortunately, neither.
