F430 - cel :-(

Hi.

I have owned my F430 for a while now, and everything has been great.

But a couple of days ago - the CEL came on.
I haven't been driving the car in any unusual way - and it is still running like it should.

I have tried to delete the CEL thru both an OBD reader and by switching the battery of.

Both times has the CEL disappeared - but the info display shows "Slow Down"

If I then restart - the CEL is back, but the car is running smooth and good.

What can this be?

I hope it is something minor - since I am going to drive 1500km on Thursday.

Could be a crack in the headers.

Welcome to FerrariLife

The first thing I would like to repeat is that you should never try to kill a CEL because this will erase everything including the precious info in the freeze frames. A CEL can be something minor or major. I would not drive the car such a distance without knowing the root cause. What are the DTS codes you got from your OBD reader? You need the error codes to start having an idea what did trigger the CEL.

I know - but i wanted to try if it just were some random CEL.
I took it to a garage just to use theirs OBD reader - and it only said "Car Specific". I will try with another garage tomorrow - I have 65km to the nearest Ferrari dealer.

So, went to the dealer today - two error codes.

One for the right catalyst sensor, causing the Slow down message - solved in 30 mins with a new sensor for 800 US incl work.

The other one is the P1528, sensor for left camshaft - needs hopefully only cleaning to work again.

I will deal with that later - no problem to drive the 1500km according to Ferrari.

Another positive thing that is, there has been almost no wear to the clutch the last 5000km. :-)

I report more regarding the p1528, when i will try to fix it.

Hi
I had the same error this spring. I would take a look at the variator solenoids... I documented some of it in this thread: http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...ver-430-a.html
