F430 F1 transmission upgrade

Hi all, not posted much so far but have gained lots of interesting info from you guys. However not found anything on this subject, anyone know what would be involved to upgrade a standard F430 F1 transmission to perform the same as the Scuderia. As far as I understand it the Scuderia has a different gearbox map that can be loaded into an F430 but it has various gearbox components upgraded to deal with the additional stress. Would love to know exactly what work would be required?

Car as delivered except for a fast road suspension geo set up. Love everything else except the slightly sluggish standard F1 transmission. Do push on fairly hard, on this last road trip destroyed a new set of Corsa's in 7000 Km, had to limp home the last 300Km with cotton showing through the rubber! Woops

Andy- Nope, will not work. The Scuderia has internal modifications to the gearbox and a different F1 hydraulic system, in conjunction with the updated F1 TCU/ECU software. If you could get the Scud TCU to work with an F430 (doubtful), it would likely destroy the gearbox on the first high rpm shift.

Hi Andy, if money isn't a problem, an upgrade to the Scud F1 should be possible. As Terry wrote, you'll have to change the entire F1 system. In addition to that, you'll have to change also the RHS air intake leg because the Scud F1 had an additional hydraulic expansion box that take more space in this area.

Stef- I am not sure you would not have to swap out the two Motronnic ECUs, too, and I do not think the F430 trans would last long at 60 ms without the internal gearbox mods. F430 min shift time is 150 ms.

Thanks guys for the info, I expected this to be the case. Would love a scud but have fallen in love with Bianco Avis 430s since owning this one so trying to find a scud in this colour in the uk is very difficult, plus are they worth 50k more than an F430? Think I need to drive one again

No doubt Terry, the entire transmission including E-Diff will have to be changed and I agree, there is a very good chance that the Scud Motronic ECU's have some specific secrets too

Andy, I think that it would be much cheaper to repaint a Scud (and less risky) in your favorite colour than going into such an upgrade.

Ey-up Dave, didn't know you were on here, how's the Scud going? How many miles you put on her?

I believe the wrap is proving controversial. Bet your looking forward to your road trip!

I found out that John was wrong about the gearbox map. I'm just trying to decide whether to sell the RS and put my name on a 458 scud, catch you soon I hope.

Following our latest three week road trip, increased the mileage on the 430 from 9.5k to just under 24k, not bad in 18 months, good job my first F car wasn't a scud!

Aup! just had the track rod ends and some engine carbon replaced under warranty. Drives like a dream now - and still a keeper! Only on 8K miles, but 3 and half K last year wasn't too bad

ooo sell the RS? - you might be waiting awhile for a the 458 Scud / Monte Carlo

Yes I know this will upset the purists, but hey, the car is still original underneath, it's protecting the car for the 3K mile Eurotrip and it's still all MINE

Photo time and I'll wait for the onslaught

If somebody really wants to try, here is a good starting point. Just need a few ECUs to go with it.

Thanks for finding the add taz, could say good timing, however now I understand what's envolved I think I will leave the F430 as is. I did promise myself that if/when I became an F car owner I would not start modifying. Over the next few weeks I'm going to drive a scud and a 458 again and then do some thinking....... Would be better off putting the mod money towards the next F car!

Exactly, do not modify your 430, if you want a Scuderia, just buy one. Wraps are getting very good, just buy one and wrap it white.

A friend was selling his Bianco 16M recently. Might be still on the market.
