Flaky paint on the manifold!

Went to see a car yesterday, a 2004 spider - a bit dissapointed to see so much of the red paint was flaking off the manifold, particularly around the logo. Is this common? Can it be touched-in or is it a much bigger re-spray job?

On that note - the red manifold is indeed the jewel in the crown under that glass engine cover, how does one keep the red colour fresh and vibrant, as they so often look dull and dowdy after some years?

I have not see that in any of my clients cars. I service many 360's and not 1 has that problem. Maybe some sprayed a chemical on the manifold. You can remove the intake , have the red striped and then repainted.

Wow that's unusual then. I didn't think it was normal. Are you able to share with me a guide on how much it would typically cost to strip and re-spray the manifold? Also, how do you keep the colour looking as brand new as possible?

Thanks for your help.

You can pep the colour up with TFR and a soft brush and in a week or two I will have a supply of red cam cover paint so you can make it brand new.

This sort of thing is not a deal breaker - having seen your LHD thread are you looking for Concours ?
