Scuderia with original 4-p racing harness but no roll bar...

My 430 Scuderia was delivered with the original 4-p racing harness, most cars in Europe seem to be... However as many other Scuderias, it didn't come with a roll bar.

From a safety point of view this seem like a pretty stupid idea and it doesn't really feel safe. I am thinking of putting in a roll bar like the one originally mounted but cant find any other than original, which as always is ridiculously priced.

Any one know of an aftermarket solution? I have seen a few threads about roll cages being built but I would like to stay as close to original as possible.

From what I can see they only offer an harness bar, don't need that, I am looking for a roll bar...

Well, it is a roll bar. Just a 2-pt one

The oem one is only a 4-pt which I am sure any reputable race-experience or raceteam-owned shop can fabricate for you in its likeness.

Here's a 6-pt one on a us Scuderia:
:: Ai Design

Please also note the true track 5-pt seat belt harnesses. If you want full-on track spec then that's the way to do it. I submarine less w the 4-pt oem harnesses but well, point is I still submarine and I don't even track hard, more like spirited circuit driving.

Johan- I would not want a rollbar unless I was going to be wearing a helmet. Too great a chance of putting a rollbar shaped dent in your skull.

I think the 5th (or 6th) point of attachment is far more important than a roll bar, especially for the street. Agree with Taz, roll bars without a helmet are dangerous. Is your Scud a track tool only? If street driven, I believe the 3 pt. with air bag is actually safer than a 4 pt.
I went through this with some knowledgeable folks (track Dr.) on my Lotus ExigeS with 6 pt. Schroth belts.

I use it on the track 4-5 times a year, so it's about 50/50 track day/street car. 3-p harness would probably be the safest, I know but retro fitting 3-p belt is not an easy option or cheap... Ending up with a smashed in roof is not a nice option either, if you are sitting straight up, been there done that...
