Challenge Stradale

We seem to have a wealth of Scuderia owners on FL these days but I can't think of anyone with a Challenge Stradale.

Are most now sitting in collections? Are they just to raw for most peoples taste these days?

I have been considering either one of these cars and I have to say that a good shopper can land a deal on a Scud within 20-30k of the CS. The reason I would buy either of these cars is for the performance increase over the stock models. Given the relative closeness in price I would opt for the Scud every time. I don't really follow production numbers but I'm wondering if there were a lot more Scuds produced than CS's. Just my 2 cents.

Bob- 1288 CSs were built and even though I do not have final production numbers, I am guessing there were about twice as many Scuderias as CSs. Plus 500 or so Scuderia Spider 16Ms.

I do have UK registrations courtesy of JT, and they were 119 CS, 167 Scuderia, and 55 16M RHD UK models.

I think most would agree that award would go to the 355.

To me the CS is more desirable than the scud. It just seems more special and personally I think it looks better.

As for the best sounding cars F50 > 512TR > 360CS

Just sold my CS (#7944). Having owned a 99 Euro 360 prior to the CS I thought I'd give it a whirl and see what all the fuss is about. While I did like the engine and body improvements over the normal 360 and always prefer the spartan interiors of these "special" models I was severely underwhelmed with the F1 trans. To be clear, I'm not selling the car short as I'm really not a fan of any F1, set-up, I458 included. I will admit the latest technology is very quick and light years ahead of the CS but it gives the car too pedestrian a feel for my taste. I've come to realize I like 3 pedal cars and don't want to own a sports car that isn't. While owning the CS it sat next to a 997.1 GT3 RS for daily duties and it seemed that I was choosing the RS over the CS 4 days to 1. That told me it was time to move on.

With 3 pedals it would be a magnificent car!

Nope. Mine was Tubi NGT equipped and I was underwhelmed. I was told by other CS owners that they were surprised as their car's with factory exhaust were louder.

Can't argue with that at all. Former 355 spider (with tubi) owner here. I will also say that my euro 360 with Tubi NGT and straight pipes provided a sublime Ferrari symphony!

Don't worry Luke, I got the joke.

None of the V8s sounds as good as an F50 or 599 GTO.

CS and Scud and 458 sound great, just not with the stock mufflers. CS needs Capristo sound 3, Scud RSC or TT competizione x-pipe, 458 Novitec extreme exhaust. 355 also sounds great with Tubi or Capristo, 360 with Tubi, Capristo or Timate.

Daytona or 365 GTC/4. Just a wonderful full range orchestra of 12 cylinders.

Boxer- Especially if you leave part of the mufflers off, like my old Daytona. But I still think the F50 and 599 GTO sound better.

Best sounding Ferrari I've ever heard is a toss up between a full-tubi CS and a straight-piped F40.

Stock scud sounds alright, but nowhere close to either of the above. I personally do not like the capristo'd scud...note is not high-pitched enough, more of a throaty note. A 355 w the works also sounds crazy F1 good...someone brought one out a weekend ago & it definitely sounded better than my scud.

Non-street legal car, the 599xx definitely takes the cake!

The 458 w ipe innotech exhaust is quite the F1 shrill as well, my new neighbor has it in his Italia and that thing screams! The titanium burnt tips also look quite amazing.

I had a kreissieg in my scud, it was quite a glorious F1 shrill...piercing one at that and after 10min it gives me a migraine. I ordered the wrong setup, mode 3 & 5...should've done 2 & 5 because 3 even at half throttle is louder than stock at full wot. But the pitch was perfect! F1 bananas.

It does say on the box "not for race applications" so that sort of turned me off as well...last thing I want is my car to burst into flames on a spirited twirl around the circuit I had the system uninstalled after 2 weeks or so, never saw track time just some street terrorizing

I'm waiting for a friend in Denver to send me an F1-type x-pipe will report back with sound clips.

I'll take your word for it because I have yet to hear or see one taken out on a spirited drive...only seen them sitting in garages and getting fat.

Me too but its pretty obvious to me that Enzo is the improvement of the CS sound, which is almost perfect
