E diff failure?

Forgive my grammar I am posting from my phone.

Currently waiting for a tow truck.

2005 f430 f1

Driving went to upshot, huge lag then up shift. Few gear changes worked fine after. Then the yellow slow down light. Pull over, restart ecu, try driving... Go to up shift and nothing and now the ediff failure light is on.

Ideas?

Chris, it looks like you lost hydraulic pressure. As Mark said, better get your car towed and let your shop find the root cause. Good luck

something may go wrong with E-Diff pressure sensor... not a big issue indeed. SD3 will tell the problem.

I had a similar brain fart of my 430's transmission. I could rev the engine but it just wouldn't get in any gear. Turned it off and restarted twice and then everything was fine again

Quick update, had the car towed to BH Ferrari.

Upon unloading, there was F1 fluid on the bed of the tow truck.

Service guys are anticipating a blown F1 pump line due to the mileage of the car. I will know in the morning what the deal is.

Small ticket items do exist of course, last time I had an issue I just needed a bleed and fresh fluids was only $500.

Granted thats quite a sum for 20 minutes of work, but much better than a 15K F1 pump! I actually just finalized the deal for trading in the F430 for a V10 R8 spider so this couldn't of happened at a worse time!

Apparently I blew a line in the actuator. Now these lines are only sold in bundles, seriously Ferrari? 6 grand in parents for a single line.

They are looking to find someone that can just shop the line.

Should be covered under warranty as well it looks like, extremely pissed off.

Try an alternator harness for a 360. LOL. Anyone mechanically inclined could splice in a foot or so.

PM me if not under warranty, and I will give you some options if you need that part.

Will do bud, waiting to hear back and see if we can get it shopped. I honestly don't understand how something like that would be sold bundle only.

Chris- Any good hydraulic shop can make a high pressure line for you that is far superior to the original lines. Ferrari prices on those lines are atrocious.

Looks like were having a gentlemen shop the line. Price down to 1,400 with install!

Seriously guys, if you are in SOCAL... I highly recommend Beverly Hills Ferrari. They are much cheaper than even the independents as far as hourly rate goes and will always work with you.

Well, Doug and I have some serious problems / issues with the Auto Gallery. We have good reason to not shop there.

I had huge issues with the auto gallery as well. Dave Melton, the lead at the Ferrari service department is extremely hard to work with and less than honest.

Beverly Hills has always been extremely professional, and gets me out the door spending the least amount of $$$ possible.

Dont want to get into a he said/he said contest here but I would be very interested in hearing about the issues with Auto Gallery. Here in my local group of Fcar owners, they have the very best reputation. The only issue I have had with them is a total lack of communication when they have my car as to the progress or status, especially when they were working on the smog issues, they were supposed to have the car a few days, maybe a week and 3 weeks later still playing with it and NO communication with me unless I called several times, never returned messages, etc.

However I was very pleased with the work once done and even more pleased with the costs. When I took it in for front suspension work they worked with me quite well cost wise and even agreeing to using Hill Eng. parts even though they initially stated they don't use non-OEM parts.

Overall I am pleased with them but because of the cost of the next "scheduled" service in a year or so, which is belts and clutch, I am always interested in other places, even if for now they have my loyalty.

The less then honest part would be a killer for me, i can't stand that in anyone so I am interested in hearing about it.

Mikey, fellow SOCAL resident here.

For the clutch, use Fusion Motor Sports Fusion Motorsports (4,600 for the clutch + install vs 8,500 at the dealerships).

I use Fusion for big ticket items. Ferrari parts, there service guys actually used to work at autogallery. I use Beverly Hills for regular service, 1,200$ is there service special ALL fluids and filters.

I purchased the extended Ferrari Warranty through the auto gallery. I am out of date for the power cube. So went with the tier two version through ferrari. Apparently they forgot to put it in the computer and it lapsed literally by a few days putting me out of date for the warranty program so wound up with the tier three ferrari warranty.

Was completely there fault. Refused to even attempt and get the tier two paper work rolling and petition the warranty department.

Thus I was owed a refund of $250.00... I was refunded $33.00. After about a dozen calls and emails I just gave up. Its a tiny amount of money, so the audacity to screw me out of $200? Seriously?

I had an issue with my F1 system, turns out it was just a loose bleeder screw. I take it to the auto gallery. They hook it up to the SD3 and start telling me pieces I am going to need... I take it to BH and they straight up tell me there is NO way they could have known what I would have needed without taking a look.

Myriad of other small problems as well. Wind shield wipers weren't working for instance... I paid about 1,300$ in random parts... turned out I just needed ONE 200$ part. Same service stop and they wouldn't take the parts I didn't need back. Never drove off from the service department.

Mikeyr,

Well no communication or lack or communication doesn't work for me. If it works for you, stick with A.G. Experienced same lack of communication regarding the 12C I was going to buy from them, and then the same lack of communication regarding refunding my wire transfer in the time they promised. Piss me off and I will spread the word quickly. Word is spreading.

wow

Chris,

glad it is barely twice your small ticket item! I wish there were F dealers where i live so the 3 independents could actually have more competition for takin care of my future F car/s. Look fwd to hearing when you actually get the car home and if the quality of the new line is as good as the OEM. The autogallery sounds like a place i would steer clear of. you paid them good money so that some of us can be spared, thank you.

It does not work for me at ALL, they are my closest dealer but still 110 miles away so its not someplace I can drive to when they don't return my calls. That was the last time they saw my car, assuming nothing goes wrong in the year and half or so, my car won't need service.

But when its time for the belts, I am pretty sure it will be time for the clutch too. The only reason I still think of them as my dealer is that so far I think they have been very reasonable on pricing for the 2 things I have taken my car in for.

Anyway, thanks for the information, like I said I didn't want to hijack this thread or get into a bashing thread...back to the e-diff issue please.....

Even so, excited to pick up the R8 on Monday! Flying into Dallas for it, then driving back to LA. Hopefully my radar detector offers safe passage! Maintenance costs on that thing... nothing! haha and a real warranty!
