My dealer has a 2004 360. The seller, a good friend of mine who has driven this one as well mine says that my 2000 360 is a faster car. When i started it up and gave some revs, i did notice that it sounds somewhat muted. The previous owners also who kept it for 6 months, felt unhappy with this and exchange it with a 997s (and paid some cash to the dealer!!).
As we make a research we found, if correct, that later Modenas complies with Euro4 specs in contrast to earlier models which are Euro3 spec. Can this play an important role in performance or maybe there is something else wrong with the car?
Mike- You can look it up in the parts catalogs and see if there were big changes in the Motronic ECUs during production. Appears to be a difference between catalyst and non-catalyst cars, but you can flail through the listings as easily as I can.

Mike, I think that Euro4 started only from 2005 with a 50% reduction of NOx emissions.
From a deeper research i noticed the opposite: 2001 and later models are more fuel thirsty and have higher emmisions
