Lighting upgrade

I didn't like the License plate lights of my car. It is yellow and looks dim.
The other problem was the inside study lamp which makes too much heat. sometimes I feel it can burn the plastic cover.

So there are easy upgrades I made and want to share it with you.

1) Plate lamps > LED :

This is philips LED lamp

There is a real different feeling when you have pure white color there :

Result :

2) Study lamp > LED :
Not only it doesn't produce too much heat but also it is nicer color in nights.
Don't choose 6000 for illumination otherwise it will be too much light in the cabin.

Result :

3) Front box lamp > LED :

Easy Upgrade on this :
more light.

4) Front Parking lights

They can be easily replaced by a 6W LED. Today the shop was out of stock for LED with turn-lock base. if you are not looking for a lot of headache to replace it with LED stripe, you can just replace that small bulb from the gate on top of the front tyres and replace it with a 6000K 6W LED light and you will get white stripes. (won't be as perfect as LED stripe)

Thanks for sharing, nice light upgrades. I have a question though. Didn't you have issues with the dome light when switching between the 'doors open' and 'permanent on' switch position? These 2 switch positions are inverting the polarity and LEDs are polarity depend (you can't inverse - and +). I had this issue when I created the fade in/ out dome light DIY and had to leave a normal bulb to preserve both functions of the switch.

There are two grounds and one + and one - LED is a diode so doesn't let the current to reverse. I cut one base of the other diode in the box and gave a share of the ground to the ( - ). So it will be like this:

(+) gr1 gr2 (-) (for door)
(+) gr2 (-) for permanent

I'm sure if place or any other lamp which is being checked by the car could cause error in the system. but study lamp seems to be non-important.

Option 2:

The Philips sells 2 poles LEDs both side is white. I will go to shop to send a picture of the box and model so you can order those. I couldn't use them because it was blue/red 2 poles.

Really nice and inexpensive mod., gives car modern appearance at night.
For the c5w philips led license plate light, which one to use, 4000 or 6000 illumination?

Good question! Forgot to say that,

1) Use 4000L it is stronger than enough. (First I used 6, then changed it to 4)
2) Angel them to lightup license plate. not straight down.

P.S: If you use 6000L or angel the LEDs in straight down. Ground below the diffuser will light-up and it will be like Honda floor light upgrade.
P.S2: for the front box light use 6000L.

For the front park light, I'm having difficult time fitting the led strip.
What is the best and brightest c5w led lights you recommend?

LED is difficult job. there is step by step guide here in this forum. I did fix a led lamp instead of the regular one. so I get white stripe. (but no angel eyes).
I will send photos soon.

Funny, that's exactly what I thought too! The plates are the last thing I would illuminate better especially with the new severe road laws here in Switzerland.

If it's like the 360 it's 38mm X 1.5 but the 36mm will work as well.
