Headlight gasket falling down...
I have seen this on more than a few F430 now so I'm guessing that this is a fairly common problem. However I haven't really found any threads about it on any Ferrari forum so far...
The problem is that the gasket around the headlamp falls down on the outer part of the had lamp. I have made a blue marking along the line where it seem to happen most of the time.
Anyone else with the same problem here and maybe with a fix for it? I have tried to fix it by trying to lift the gasket, but I end up risking of damaging it. The only real solution seems to be to remove the front bumper and removing the headlamp. If I cant find any other solution I will probably do so after the summer when the car goes in for front bumper respary...
Anyone with an easy fix?
One must the the bumper off to get in there? I will look at the drawings. Guessing the lamps are much simpler.
Johan, I don't have this issue. The only way is to remove the front bumper and re-ajust the headlights. I think I've sent you already these WSM details by email. You'll have to work on the "O" fastening screw of the headlight to get it slightly higher.
Its just that when I picked up my car from service last week I saw at least four other 430 with the exact same problem. Fixing it is not highest on my list right now as the weather finally turned for the better and it is time to dive now :-)
Mine's gasket is dropped just like yours. Let us know if found a solution.
If the only solution is to open front bumper then I have to leave it like this.
I think water and dust will get accumulated there. :(
Could you please send me the info too? I would like to know about the bumper/light positioning and be lil more educated about the front.
I've been in dealer an hour ago. they told me the gasket is not quite a seal. so no worries on water and dust. but must be fixed.
Technical head told me they don't completely remove the front bumper. they will partially access it front the lid in top of the front tyre.
To make it brief 300-400$ is what I have to pay today :D
Johan, if you would's say it I would probably never noticed it. thanks anyway.
Your headlight gaskets need to be changed but it's not critical as your dealer said. It may eventually create vibration noices between the headlights and the body.
The only way to change them is the remove the front bumper. Unless you're really hands on, I would leave this job to be done by your dealer. BTW, you can't remove the front bumper alone as it is really heavy and it can take quite an effort to reajust it right when you put it back.
I attached the procedure of removing the headlights so that you can evaluate what need to be done ;)
Finished it for you.
.....falling down, falling down. Headlight gasket falling down, my fair lady.
Sorry...I had too.
Thanks alot. I think this should be done on next service.
