Actual Stock, Modual & Challenge 18" 360 Wheel Weights

I have a set of the following rims

Stock 5 spoke 18 inch "Star Fish" rims

Optional 2 piece 18 inch "Modular" rims

18 inch "Challenge" rims. 1/2 inch wider, front & rear than stock (from the race series, not the 19 inch Stradale version)

Works out like this.... all weights are actual with a digital scale accurate to a gram.

................Front.....................Rear

Star fish.....21.2 lbs................24.5 lbs

Modular......25.4 lbs................29.2 lbs

Challenge...19.35 lbs...............22.1 lbs

So, in conclusion................

The stock "Star Fish" rims are, in reality, pretty light street rated rim.

The "Modularís" look better, but at a cost of adding almost 18 lbs in wheel weight.

I actually like the std wheels better than the modulars but whatever, people like what they like.

The std wheels were made with some new at the time pressure casting technology and when we were in school in Maranello they were very proud of the very low weight and high strength of those wheels.

To take it a step further......

A complete set of Challenge rims are only 8 1/2 lbs. total, lighter than a set of Star rims, but a whooping 26.3 lbs. lighter than a complete set of Mod's

With all that said......... Can you feel any difference when you switch from the Mod's to the Challenge rims?

Well, maybe with a stop watch & Michael Schumacher driving.........

After all, it is still a street car...................
