my advise is to check with the Ferrari Dealer, coz when it comes to steering wheel u can't joke, this is the most important feeling in the car, u can make lots of modification which doesn't affect on anything, but when it comes to steering wheel it's a different story.

Good Luck.

Imad

As nobody has chipped in regards if LED wheel can be retrofitted Ill check with a few of my Ferrari Dealers tomorrow.

Having owned my 16M for 2 glorious years, its not a case of will I go for a Scud, its a case of when I add one, but she'll need to be bang on my spec!

Fortunately I have a good car hunter
Peter the wheel can be retrofitted. I had one on my 430 coupe and although they couldn't get the LED's to work others have done - I'm pretty sure Stef had all the answers.

Has your back condition improved? Was a factor if I remember correctly in why you parted with your 16M?

I was looking at a Black Scud with Italian stripe, also without cf steering wheel. Ferrari of Seattle informed me you can add one, but there is also some programing that needs to be done to get it to work. Make sure your Dealer is able to do this.

Still my favorite cars: Scud / 16M.

Peter- Retrofitting the LED wheel is simple, all the wiring and connectors are already there.

Mark, wrong body part, was & is knee.

Its been confirmed a LED can be retrofitted, Dealer needs to upload software, as both you & Terry advise, simple fix just the cost of a LED Steering Wheel, so Im finding that out now. Thanks for your input

Terry, thanks for that. Ferrari UK confirmed as below today.

Yes you can retro-fit, you need the new steering wheel of course and the dealer needs to download a new proxy file/version of software.

Next step is obtain pricing for new LED Wheel & use that as a negotiating tool if Scud checks out ok.

Get the capristo remote, or get your dealer to add a "sport" switch where the blank is left of the display buttons. The car is so much better when the valves are fully open, especially when downshifting.

Good luck and send pics when available.

Mark - thank you. Ive now been offered 3, 2 in resale Rossa Corsa &1 in Nero, albeit my preference is Gallio & they're all within spitting distance as far as price & options.

Ferrari Dealer quoted 4k plus taxes for LED Steering Wheel, so 5k supply ONLY.

First step is decide the 'wanted' order & negotiate, second PPI, third go see, fourth take it for a STIG style test! fifth will be to ensure I can get back out without doing my knee more injury! sixth, if everything goes as hoped, import & in my garage within 4-6 weeks. Ive also put feelers out for Gallio, I'll cross my fingers & see what comes up.....as I said previously, it has to be to my spec or damn near it, then I'll jump!

Peter, great to see you lusting after another Scud, what pushes your buttons for the Scud vs a Speciale for instance just out of interest ?

Where oh where will Hammish ride in the Scuderia? No back seat?

Richard it's real simple, it is mainly due to the single clutch gearbox, I get a feeling of additional driver involvement that can never be replicated with a dual clutch box, its analogue v's digital. Its also their pure rawness & kick in the back on max rev gear change. I think Ferrari got it bang on with the 360CS, but as the 430 Scud was the final coupe version of a model that evolved over many years (360/430) it's as close to perfection as you'll get IMO.....I loved the look of my 16M & don't think I could go into another without constantly comparing, so the thought of a beautiful & different 430 Scud Coupe appeals & it will give me a different drive experience, given its also circa 35% stiffer overall. Lastly, I much prefer the look of a 430 over a 458.

Hi All,

A year or so ago I taped over the resonator holes of my air intake trumpets. I did this with an aluminium tape. The effect has been increased induction sounds on acceleration and deceleration. Prior to doing so I asked a mechanic at a local Ferrari race team. He told me that they taped over all the holes/slots in the intake trumpets and even wrapped their outsides. This increased laminar air flow to the airbox and decreased the intake air temperature.

I did this and the effect was remarkable but I quickly reversed it, just sticking with taping over the resonator tubes. I wondered whether the slotted holes in the intake trumpets served any purpose to provide cool air to engine components in that vicinity of the engine bay and I didn't want to risk any damage due to overheating. Any ideas experts??

David.
