I think several of us have done this but its still no where near as bright as the OEM 458 LED's, any solution without melting anything ?

Tony aka TAForza on fchat retrofitted a full led strip into the full length of the drl and is tremendously brighter.

Richard, I succeeded to install real DRL LED strips in the headlights with a heat sink and current driver. They worked flawlessly since about 1 year and I'm studying now how to industrialize this solution as a Plug and Play kit. A version with a diffuser cover will be available to hide the individual high power LED's as you can see now on several latest cars.

As an off topic I am thinking of buying a lightly used Audi (God forbid) RS6 V10 Biturbo as an additional family taxi, if I can get rid of 300KG but there doesn't sem to be to many threads on this ? removing weight and tuning, being the key objectives

Off topic? You just left the solar system.
Have you fitted the Scud rockers on your spider yet?

I'll snap a pic. It is definitely better than the oem yellow. I would swap out the D2S main headlight bulb as well to better match the DRLs, but given I just spent $7,000 on the replacement headlamp units I'm just too afraid at the moment that the aftermarket Phillips 6000k might melt the housing (worst case scenario) and they definitely void my warranty (best case scenario).

Under direct bright sunlight, the DRL is barely noticeable and no better than oem.

Richard, I will try to take some pictures at daylight. They are very bright as the specific pro LED's I used have nothing to do with those available at cheap price on EBay.

Folks like myself opted for a simple LED bulb swap because it is a non-intrusive process and is but a simple bulb swap with the same amperage/wattage draw as oem. With an led strip you run the risk of overheating w/ the resistor, heatsink etc, and I personally, having just replaced the headlamp units which are 7k btw, am not willing to take that risk. Same reason why I did not upgrade my D2S bulbs to the Phillips 6k D2S.

Food for thought.

I'm happy with the more modern hue yellow was icky. I've changed my license plate, trunk and map light as well.

Good stuff! So you managed to get hold of a set of oem belts? Thats fantastic!

I love em in my Scudie. Completely forgotten the existence of the regular belts.
