Scuderia loud at startup and then get quiet…

Just want to do a check with the rest of you if you have the same behavior at startup.

When starting my Scuderia from cold, the exhaust note louder during the first, say 30 s to a minute. It then gets quite and purrs as expected. I am pretty sure this has to do with the exhaust valve but not sure if it is by design or if it just needs a little heat to settle in or maybe some rattle/movement. Is it only my car that does this?

Johan, this is normal. At cold startup, the A/F mixture is largely enriched + on the Scud, fresh air is injected directly in the exhaust headers to heat up the catalyzers as fast as possible. This increases considerably the exhaust noise at cold startup. The exhaust valves remain closed ;)

For my Capristo scud exhaust the valves are open by default at startup. Hence it is louder during startup.

But they should close immediately in 1 sec after the usual startup 'bark' ?

My Spider is REALLY loud for the first couple of seconds, then quiets down a little bit. After about one minute, the revs drop to the normal idle and it's quiet. All normal behaviour.

Try as I might to be subtle, the neighbors ALL know when I go driving early Sunday morning.....

Believe it or not, exhaust systems change note as they warm up, too. When cold, even after the injector enrichment has ended, my 575M has a slight resonance at ~2500 rpm, which goes away once the exhaust is completely warm. Would probably see the same thing if you heated a piano's wires.

My Performante does the same thing, loud at start up, then quiets down in a couple minutes.

I believe it! I was driving the CS yesterday and I really noted how the exhaust note was "smoother" at the tail end of a 80 mile drive than at the begging and even in the middle. I think its cool how much it changes in tone and volume...
