On the 360 and CS, the parking/stop lights are 1157-21W5 light bulbs while the fog and turn lights are 1156- 21W only. If you change the turn lights for the LED version, you'll need to add a load resistor, otherwise, they will blink too fast.

Cheers mate

Okay thanks for the info. Would you happen to have a diagram as to where the resistor would be placed in the circuit?

Here's a guide how to install the load resistors : http://www.superbrightleds.com/pdfs/...istor_info.pdf

RL650 Load resistor : http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...rake-turn.html

Make sure that the load resistors are not in contact with any plastic parts because they will heat up really a lot. One of the reasons I don't like too much such solutions because load resistor+Led bulb will have the same power consumption as a normal light bulb, so I don't get the benefit of it. A better practice would be to adapt the root relay and upgrade all 4 turn lights to the LED's. On the F430, there is a timer ECU which would be easy to adapt for low power LED lights. I have to check for the 360.

As promised by Alan, the new 6W 1156 LED light is now available : http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-1156-Red-6W-Ultra-Bright-High-Power-LED-Rear-Fog-Backup-Light-/221003421775

I haven't tested it yet as I'm waiting for the 6W 1157 LED lights. But lots of efforts have been made to reduce the operating temperature while the brightness has been considerably increased. These 1156 LED lights are available in RED and WHITE. These single contact 1156 can be used on the F360 as turn/reverse lights (but not on the F430 which uses only 1157- double contact bulbs).

As soon I'm receiving the new 6W 1157, I'll write a review with identical tests as I did before so that they can be compared

That's right, on the 360, only the reverse and turn lights are 1156. The parking/stop and fog lights are 1157 bulbs. As for the total amount of bulbs needed, I'm not quite sure how many parking/stop bulbs are illuminated on the 360, but you can easily check that out.

Here's my guess :

LHS:
1 x 1156 turn light
1 x 1156 reverse light
1 x 1157 fog light on inner light
2 x 1157 parking light/stop light on outer light

RHS:
1 x 1156 turn light
1 x 1156 reverse light
1 x 1157 fog light on inner light
2 x 1157 parking light/stop light on outer light

That would be 10 bulbs in total.

Good news, the new and brighter 6W LED 1157 bulbs are ready (parking and brake lights, duo contact). Alan informed me that after 30' operation in brake light, they had a max temperature of 55C which is very good (tested with 25C ambient temperature). They made a huge improvement on the heat sink.

I will receive a set of 8 bulbs soon to be tested and compared. For those who want them now, they are already avail on EBay: 2 x 1157 Red 6W Ultra Bright High Power LED Tail Brake Signal Light | eBay

More to come soon

LED 6 Update : New 6W High Power LED Light

I received the new 6W High Power LED light as I wanted to review and truly test them. I noticed immediately how much the heat sink has been improved compared to the previous version. As you can see below, the temperatures remain very reasonable compared to a classical light bulb. After several hours using the stop light in still position, I never measured a temperature higher than 60C/ 140F with an ambient temperature of 27.3C / 81.1F. The new heat sink is doing a good job to evacuate the heat which is one of the most important things to check. Some LED lights claim to be 8+ Watt but will give a poor red color light and will eventually melt down with limited or inefficient heat sinks and the extreme heat. Most of them will not light up the entire tail light and project only a spot in the center.

The new 6W LED light is using a new generation of 24mil Epistar LED chips. At the front, a lens has been added. Despite the improved brightness, rated current remains still very low.

Here are the updated specs :

LED 6 Update : New 6W High Power LED Light

Number of LED’s : 8 High Power LED’s
Front LED’s : 3 (with lens)
Side LED’s : 3x3
LED colour : red (630nm)
Length : 55mm
Width Top : 18.5mm
Voltage : 12V – 14.5V
Power : 6W
Current rated : 178mA
Approx price per bulb : 20$ (worldwide shipping included)
(Ambient temperature=27.3C / 81.1 F)
Max Temperature position light 2 min : 30.8C / 87.4F
Max Temperature position light 30 min : 36.9C / 98.4F
Max Temperature stop light 2 min : 38.1C / 100.6F
Max Temperature stop light after 30min : 59.8C / 139.6F

This is a first comparison between the previous (left) and the new version (right) of this LED light.
In parking/position, there is a nice improvement in terms of brightness.
In stop light, both version a quite similar in terms of brightness but in real life the new version is still slightly brighter and with a deeper red color.

Now, compared with a 5/21 bulb, the difference is huge in brightness and color. The 6W LED easily overpassed a candescent bulb in position and stop light. While the candescent bulb renders a yellowish light, the 6W LED gives a nice deep red color which can be seen at far distances without blinding when close.

Highly advised mod if you want to get rid of your bulbs

Thanks my friends.

You can get them here :

2 x 1157 Red 6W Ultra Bright High Power LED Tail Brake Signal Light | eBay

Harry, I've been able to collect a couple of rear bulb holders. If you're still interested, I can setup this summer a complete kit including a new wire harness and integrated electronics which will light up all 4 tail lights in parking and stop (ref: http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...lluminate.html)

I was worried incase I came across as too pushy that's why I didn't ask, but if you don't mind, yes I would love a complete set please!
Love you!

Thanks Stef. If I have a North American F360 and don't necessarily want the 4 light conversion, can I just swap out the bulbs? Do I need a load resistor for the blinker? Does your eBay supplier have this? Thanks again.

This is really funny and cute . Ok buddies, I have been able to collect 6 x F430 bulb holders (very difficult to source this part alone). I've studied also to reproduce them but the investment is far too big or I have to sell hunders of them which will never happen. So for now, with these 6 bulb holders and I can make 3 kits for you guys. You will only have to do a very simple and easy job on your outer bulb holder to make both halves illuminating (I'll explain how to do that). Each kit will include 2 inner bulb holders + new modified wire harness + superseal connectors/boots + wire harness integrated electronics for switching between the fog and brake light + resistor for F1 systems.

Hi Leo, sure you can just change the bulbs but make sure you get the right bulbs because the F360 has a combination of 1156 (single-pole) and 1157 (dual-pole) bulbs. Here a look here a couple of posts back : http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...tml#post191928

For the indicator lights, you're right, you'll have to add in parallel a load resistor as explained here : http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...tml#post190674

Wolf may also give you some good advice as he recently installed the load resistors on his 360 : http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...ng-please.html
