360 battery - technical Q

Howdy all,
Well today I finally bought a new battery for the 360 after admitting the current one was knackered. Fitted it, no problem all went well, but then I found what looked like a drainage pipe alongside the 2 cables that you connect to the battery. Not sure if I, inadvertantly, pulled it out of the old battery, or somewhere else, when I disconnected it, though can't see where it would have gone to. It looks like it goes into the front storage compartment when you follow it.

Anybody any idea what in the name of god it is???

BTW drove 50 miles with it hanging loose and no problems

Bar.

Not sure what it is but it would not have been attached to the old battery.

Drain tube?

Are you speaking of the acid overflow drain tube?

Since the 360's and 430's have internal liquid batteries, the battery must have a vent/drain outside of the vehicle.

It drops down under the car.

Make sure you have that or you could fill your passenger compartment with displaced battery gasses.

Not a good thing!

An option is a dry cell battery which is quite safe.

see: www.odysseybatteries.com

Make sure to get that vent connected.

Thanks GCalo,
Much appreciated. I think the new battery I bought was a dry cell, but will check when I get home this evening.

The only dry cell about which I am aware is the Odyssey.

Make sure of what you bought.

If a wet cell make sure you vent it!
