Hi Terry,
Thanks, it is really unique indeed :-)

Buonasera Fabio,
No, non sono più a Parma da un po'.
Complimenti anche a te per la tua 575 HGTC, che peraltro conosco --entrai anch'io in trattativa col signor Ranucci per quell'esemplare; --in definitiva una delle più belle 575 in Italia.

Andreas- My old Daytona had a green leather interior, but maybe not quite as bright.

Andreas,
ciao, sei il secondo che mi di che ha trattato quella 575, sono contenti di averla presa, quella linea mi piace moltissimo, la macchina è fantastica, non è veloce come la tua 599, ma a me piace un sacco.
ciao

Hello All,

Recently I started to look at buying a 599 GTB and found two 2007 models for sale, but with two very different suggested retail prices (SRP) shown in the window stickers (attached photos), as follows.

1. Black $312,395
2. Rosso Fiorano $273.845
--------------
Difference of $38,550

The only item that I have spotted to explain some, but not all, of the SRP difference is that the Black 599 includes carbon ceramic brakes in the SRP while the Rosso Fiorano 599 includes carbon ceramic brakes in the Option list at $16,808.

But that still leaves $21,742 difference in the SRP, which is an 8% increase. Other than a fluctuation in currency (Euro/USD) between the delivery dates, what else could explain it?

Thank you,

Gianni- We know that for all MY 08 599s, CCMs became standard, but from that window sticker, we can deduce they actually became standard late in MY07, which is new information, at least to me. That SN predates the 7.3.2 update at SN 156938, too, so the updates were done separately.

Window stickers also gave us a bunch of info on the late 07 and early 08 pre-OTO 612s, where CCMs were a separate option after a similar update to Motronic 7.3.2 in 2007 and a new engine type, F133H.

Is the second serial number above 154877?

Hello Terry,

Glad that this new information is helpful. The 2nd 599 GTB (Rosso Fiorano) in my post above is VIN ZFFFC60A770154827. You can check out other details at: Used 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano for sale in Naples, FL | Fort Myers

But is there anything in these two window stickers that would explain the 8% difference in the SRP? I'm curious more than anything.

Gianni- More standard features like CCMs and likely some others. Old Ferrari trick to make options standard, but raise the base price to cover them. Plus an adjustment for the value of the euro, no doubt. Pretty precipitous drop in the dollar and it took them a while to catch up, Looks like about a 5% drop Jan-August for the dollar, and nearly 10% by October.

Hello Terry,

Since the 2007 Rosso Fiorano 599 GTB is SN 154827, it definitely predates the 7.3.2 update (SN 156938). Can you buy the HGTE kit without the F1 portion and what does this kit typically cost?

Buongiorno Gianni,

No, the HGTE kit can not be retrofitted on cars with Motronic 7.1.1 system, or not completely, at least: in fact, you can install the suspension kit (sway bar, springs, etc.), exhaust system, etc., but not the ECUs.

As for the reduced HGTE kits,
Ferrari supplies 4 different kits:
-) Handling retrofit kit-- suspensions
-) Performance retrofit kit-- ECUs (including F1 Superfast 80ms unit) and exhaust-- can NOT be fitted on early cars
-) Exhaust retrofit kit-- exhaust only
-) Cosmetic retrofit kit-- front and rear prancing horse in black finish, 5-spoke HGTE wheels, etc.

Here in Italy, the price tag for the Handling retrofit kit alone is EUR 3,561.86

Ciao,

Entrambe bellissime macchine, senza dubbio.

The 599 clearly is a completely different car compared to the 575 under many aspects: all-aluminium chassis and body, magnetorheological shocks, Manettino settings, Enzo-derived F140 engine, F1 Superfast gearbox, etc. It definitely represented a great evolutionary step in the technical and styling fields.

The 575 still offers a hint of analog feeling, a feeling that has gone completely lost in the 599, I am afraid. On the other hand, the 599 is a superior touring car, almost unrivaled for cross-continental journeys, and that's the main reason I chose it over the Maranello. 599's F1 shifts are considerably faster and sharper, too.

As for the performance,
They are both very powerful and very nervous cars. The 599, though, is frightening, on the borderline of being unsafe. Drive responsibly.

Andreas- You sure the 599 originally came with 7.1.1? I know the Enzo did. From what I had deduced, they all came with 7.3.2.

599 Owners List

Buongiorno Terry,
Sì, the upgrade from 7.1.1 to 7.3.2 was fitted on the 599 sometime about half way through MY07. It was on the 612 that 7.3.2 was introduced during 2006, at least as far I am aware of.

Andreas- Thanks, that is something I was trying to discover for years and never could. In the US, 7.3.2 would have started at SN 156938.

Most likely, the 612 was upgraded at about the same time and that is when the F133H engine type was introduced in CY 07 on the Sessanta and standard 612s. At the same time, the HGTC and HGTS packages for 7.1.1 became the HGT2 package for 7.3.2 and CCMs became a separate option (except on Sessantas) until becoming standard on the OTOs.

You helped me put the final pieces of the puzzle together.

Are you a pro and how did you learn so much about Ferraris?

No Terry, thanks to you for the infos on the 612 updates, I wasn't aware of them.

As for the numbers,
Ferrari states that the engine injection system upgrade does start from engine number 122779 on the 599.
