599 6-1 Headers Manifolds

Hello guys,
today I have finally found an owner of 599 fiorano that will give his black Fiorano for take the dimensions and available space in order that I can do a good design of the 6-1 headers manifold for this car, including CAT.
Will be an expensive investment because for accept, I told him that the work will be by do by the Ferrari official Dealer and I will pay him also the annual service, an obviously the 3D laser scanner service, if will be not problems, work will be to the first week of april.

I'm very confident about the result because, after my experience on the 575 that have exactly same layout of CATs and lambdas layout, I know well how they work ....

I remember you that 599 GTO have not same lamdas layout of fiorano, 4 lambdas instead of 8, then GTO headers can't fit in Fiorano without ECU modifications, my intention is to make a system like 550-575 that will run without ECu modifications.

Best at all

Fabio- Sounds exciting. A bunch of guys on the other site have been talking about 6-1 headers, including the fact you may be making a set.

Hello Terry,

after the experience that i done on the 575 6- headers developing i think that the developing of the same headers for the 599 will be a little bit easy ....
Yesterday i found one non official work shop that have two 599 disassembled with engine out of car!
They will permit me to make a scanning, by means of laser scanner, in order to make a 3d CAD model ...
Work scheduled for 28 of march.

Kindly

Fabio

Fabio- Sounds like perfect timing. Look forward to the result.

Hello Guys,
two days ago i went to an independent workshop (220 km to me) that had two 599 under working, one with the engine removed and one assembled, by means of 3D laser scanner we took models of:
- engine compartment without engine
- engine
- part of engine compartment with installed engine, for steering shaft position
- car lower side, in CAT area
- back muffler

Now I can design new headers like those i did for 550-575, rearrange my actual project of the cat bypass pipe, and make a design of sport mufflers.

Best at all of you.

Fabio

Fabio- Looks good and there is definitely a market for 599 owner who want their 599s to sound like GTOs.

Ciao Fabio,

What 3-D scanning hardware (make/model, etc.) and software did you use? Is it the same 3D scanning equipment you used for your 575M manifolds or newer equipment?

Saluti,
Gianni

Ciao Gianni,
the company that i called for the scanning service have Creaform (from Canada), they send me stp files and i use Solidworkks for design my products.

For design my 575 manifolds I not used acanner, for dimensions I used old methods, meter, caliber, after that i designed on CAD and before make the first prototype i removed original headers from my car and took on her last dimensions for make the equipment that now I use for manufacture.

Kindly

Fabio

I like it!

Best regards at all

Fabio- Looks like it is time to start bending tubing. Have you found anybody to be your Guinea Pig?

Terry,
no, I will make by means of cut and weld of single bends and pieces of pipe, because is necessary around 2 diameter between two consequential bends, but in the headers the bends are more more near, then if i make by bending pipe after is necessary to cut and weld ........

tazandjan 05-09-2017 07:37 PM

Fabio- I can see the weld lines on your drawing.

Hello Guys,
i'm near to the fire lane ...
This morning i completed and I gave to the zinc electroplating company the welding equipments for 599 Headers, CAT, Bypass and muffles ....
It was a long work, but in this way the products will be in tight tolerances and will not be installation problems.

Fabio, I've said it so many times already, but you are truly an artisan, and a Michelangelo of fabrication :)
