Hello guys,
finally i'm on the 6-1 headers hot phases ...
I'm on pre assembly of the single pipes, is a delicate phase ....

The first picture showing parts for the 6-1 merge point, are pieces of shaped pipes by myself by means of a mold in order to cover all the area and to do a gradual area changing...

Each one header need 25 parts plus 6 merge pipes, for each one of that parts i done two cuts, by belt saw and a self made equipment, some parts need machining by turning and all need a surfaces refinishing by sand paper bels and cleaning internal edge by means of manual edge scraper ...

please note that the name "575" on the box in only because i used this for storage the parts, but parts are of 599

Fabio

599 Manifold - Pipe Shaping

Ciao Fabio,

I would like to see how you flared the round pipe into the triangular-shape. Are you using Type 304 stainless steel?

I would be a very happy man to be your assistant on this project. Que bravo!

Ciao Gianni,

yes i use SS 304L, i made the round pipe into the triangular-shape by means of a punch mold under the hydraulic press and a little equipment for lock the pipe during press deformation, is a little bit long process that need 6 phases.

Best Regards

Fabio

Fabio- Happy New Year. Will be interesting to see how much hp you gain with the headers. Mostly, though, she will sound like a 599 GTO, which has 6-1 headers OEM.

Hello guys,
Yesterday was a good Saturday I completed the first set of headers and now ready for final welding...
I like, they are little bit difficult to do but I like the result, and the 599 engine willl change completely.... who will install will think to have a GTO ....

Test is not far ....

Ciao Fabio,

Were the welds made with SMAW or GTAW?

Hi Terry,
yes i like the result but they are little bit complicated to fit perfectly because the single pipe is composed by 4/5 parts and during welding there are natural little deformations due to the welds, result is that some pipes nedd to be adjusted for fit perfeclty on the JIG welding.

Ciao Gianni,

GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) as per AWS spec, but we usually call TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas).
