Signal green 2007 Ferrari 599 selling for half million dollars

From the article:
Does the color of the supercar make it worth any more or less? Thatís the case with this signal green 2007 Ferrari 599 for sale at JamesEdition. Okay, signal green is a rare color for a Ferrari but does that make it worth the half million dollar asking price?

No way she sells for $500K. Not that many buyers who want one that color, especially with the weird interior.

paint color is awesome in person. interior, not so much.

IIRC this car changes hands fairly regularly, my guess is from dealer to dealer mostly. not sure if it's had a true owner in a while (could be wrong)

also agree on the price unless you find that one guy who has to have this color and sucks at negotiation

Never understand above a 5% paint premium but the further something varies from the norm makes it worth more each and every decade - because Ferrari especially 12 cylinders.

I like it but wouldn't want to own it at for a premium price.

I'm not wild about the 599 in any event; but if the condition of a gift of this car was that I could use it for as long as I wished gratis but could not sell it and would have to return it to the donor, I'd decline. Couldn't live with that paint and interior. And would not be comfortable being seen in it. Argghh!

Actually though I am a fan of the 599, I think that that's probably one of the ugliest colours I've ever seen on the 599.

I fine with the exterior color - but the interior is hideous.

Regardless, it never ceases to amaze me how far speculators will go these days. We've just seen the dreaded TR go from $50K to $150K in the span of a year, etc. So, I'm not surprised the speculators would try this - they probably assume most Ferrari buyers these days are dumber than a box of rocks.

It's only a "dreaded TR" if you don't own one.

I love the 599. The interior of that car is ghastly.

I'm not a TR man, but there is no denying it is an iconic car and I would certainly not "dread" to own one.

They made so made TRs and they are mid-engine GT cars with a high center of gravity. Expensive to maintain and very heavy in the rear. There is no excuse to be driving up the prices of these cars. What is next - the 400 cars?

The 512 TR is fine, but I never liked the format. Regardless, I've driven them multiple times and have owned a 512 BBi boxer. The Boxers are edgier and more fun, but neither belongs on the track. Great Flat-12 engine, but not much else to like. The only good thing was the TR convinced Ferrari to move back to the front-engine V12 GT car and never look back. Other than the limited edition mid-engine V12s they make on occasion for wealthy collectors.

The market is nuts. Back in the late '90s, they couldn't give Boxers away; now they are at insane price levels. TRs were chump change just a couple of years ago and now... Just nuts.

By all means, go pay 150K+ for one of those TRs. You could get a decent 599 at that price, but hey.
