Really?! 65k for a 456?

I'll be honest, I don't follow the 456 market nearly as much as other models. But 65k for a nearly 40,000 mile car seems high.

Is this in the ball park for today's 456's?

Cutter, if the condition is really good, all services have been performed regularly incl a recent belt service, and you want a Ferrari 4-seater, buy it. Manual transmission cars have simply taken off in the last six to twelve months. Will bet you that this car, in sound condition, will be in six figures within 18 months.

I'm editing this as I just recalled an admonition I once heard from a good friend and true Ferrari expert. He and I were driving my old 365GTC down to Bill deCarr's facility to have it stripped to the metal and repainted. Lyle asked me what color I was thinking about; I said I'd always thought the car would look wonderful in a deep British racing green. He said immediately: if you know now you want to keep the car forever and you love the green, do it. But understand that selling a green Ferrari is the toughest thing in the world.

I intended my comment above to apply to more generally acceptable Ferrari colors of which TdF blue is probably my favorite.

I find the state of that leather pretty shocking, considering this car is newer than my 550 and has been used much less. They (or the new owner) should invest in some proper leather care by a professional, it is amazing what they can do for $750 these days.

BTW, I do agree with Cutter that it does seem high, even in Europe where mileage is much less of an issue this price would be considered high. But Seth is right that they are on the rise.

Cutter, Onno,

I watch the 456 market fairly close. I agree, given that particular car's color and condition, it seems very overpriced. That said, most 456s are listed in the 60s these days. And most of those sit on their listing for quite some time.

The only one I recall selling for anywhere near that figure was an M, Azzuro w/ black Daytona seats that sold about a year ago. It sold FAST, and in the 40s.

This one is the 4th green one that I can recall, but agree with Seth. I have yet to see a green 456 sell. They all sat on the market for a long time before just diappearing.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

I purchased a verde mugello 456 GT in part *because* of the color: to me, it just "works" with this GT.

It adds a bit of seriousness and solidity, and shows off the cars' lines very well.

Looks good with a dark tan interior.

I can perhaps understand how dark green may not "work" with a zippier, sportier model, but it seems fine in this GT.

To each their own.

Mr. V, I agree, the green/tan combo looks particuarly good on the 456.

This price would be correct for a 456 manual with ffsh in the UK. I believe Bernie Ecclestone had two 456 cars in this colour, one a GT, the other a M GTA and both were sold by UK dealers within the last two years. The first 456 I ever saw was in this colour combination parked outside the hotel where I was staying, The Beverly Hills in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa. It looked superb in the bright sunlight and the colour suits the car. Prices are certainly beginning to rise in the UK, thanks in part to classic car guru Quentin Willson identifying the model as currently undervalued.

Cutter- $65K is a bargain for a 456M GT now. They are bringing about the same as some 550s.

I got insanely lucky, got a 456 GTA for 31,000$ US (40,000 CDN) last week.

The guy put up the ad below

1999 Ferrari 456 Coupe (2 door) | used cars & trucks | Victoria | Kijiji

I called him, offered him 40, he accepted, I quickly took a 5 1/2 hour flight from Montreal to Vancouver and then a 1 hour bus & 90 minute ferry to get to Victoria, took a quick drive, then the bank & insurance for the transfer and off I was on my way back like I stole it.

Car is pretty immaculate, so happy!

They go for 70-90k in cdn$ here so I pretty much stole it.

I am still waiting for the transport to get here, it's being shipped by train and it will take about 1-2 more weeks.

I did manage to take a few snapshots with my phone while I was there

Cutter and all, I took a closer look at this 456 and even considered making a low ball offer. Anyone with similar thoughts ought to examine the Carfax carefully. The car has had six or seven owners and an accident, said to be minor. The seller was kind enough to send me service records and they are more voluminous with an awful lot of 'stuff' than one would expect for the car and the mileage. Prudence.

I think you have the wrong car, this car is from Japan and Carfax has Zero records of it. Paint is also all original so it's never been in an accident. VIN is ZFFWP50JPN0110381

edit: (You must have been talking about the Original car in the post, not mine right? I think I just realized that now...duh)
