New 550 Owner

Hello, I bought the FastCars Rosso Barchetta/Tan 1999 550--Sticky, 575 mounts, recent belt service, silicone hoses (not SRI), books and tools, “In good well maintained condition” per FastCars. http://www.tillackco.com/1999%20Ferrari%20550%20Maranello_114960.html. Only one key fob though, hello maybe ImmoFixer? Like to have a full set of fobs.

One major reason for pulling the trigger is the level of support for 550s on this website and the other--MS John, FiF David, ECS Josh, Brian, Taz, and everybody else-- like getting to know a new family. Didn't want to buy until I sold my C/4, but it appears that a good condition (to be confirmed after check-over) $78k 550 will soon be--or already is--a thing of the past. I got ahold of a recent PPI on the car, and am relying on FastCars' reputation, so bought it sight unseen 8-}. Of course the imho overriding reason to purchase a 550 is the quiet, elegant look of the car hiding awesome performance--Bruce Lee in Armani.

Here’s a recent review of 550s:
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/reviews/classic-ferrari-reviews/1503/ferrari-550-maranello-review/. Relative reliability once fully sorted is great too. Just wish there were some places around here to run it hard for a prolonged period, tough to find outside of a track.

I don't have the car yet, FastCars Craig is overseeing the seat re-dye, then shipped to me. I'll post a picture of it being off-loaded when it arrives. Have to get the rest of my cars (accumulated over decades) sold, too many to take care of, want to concentrate on just the 550.....kudos to SRI and MS for all the great stuff they offer.

Thank you for the great help to be found on this Forum….!

Thank you Onno & Wijnand--my only regret is that I don't have the 550 in Europe to drive there. I have such good memories of driving in Italy and Germany. Here the cops have no empathy for beautiful cars driven carefully and fast. Ah well....

Will a belated welcome to the site. Looks like you're already busy doing some research and learning about the car. Kudos to you!

Gorgeous color on your car. Hope you have many happy miles together!

'99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.
