Maranellos disappearing

Last fall on eBay there were routinely at least a half dozen or more of both 550s and 575M's. There is now just one 550 (at $109,800.) and one 575M (at $119,900.) offered on eBay. Why oh why didn't I load up and stockpile a dozen or so of these cars?

Pardon the hijack, but 355 GTB's and GTS's are also in the same boat but we really don't know where the market is going.

Seth, don't know about Maranellos but funny how the rest of the bunch seems to be "floating" higher too. One way to look at it is that the bus las left for the others already.

Did you sell your other Ferrari - if so any chance to someone in the Midwest first name Randy?

Anyway - the new round with the LA 918 P1 I think stirred the industry up a bit.

The new tech turbo battery world has people grabbing at what will certainly be the last of an era.

Received a new SVR fast loud beautiful but my old RR Sport was so simple and wish I would have never exchanged it. Every time I start the car have to hit the DO NOT SHUT OFF MY ENGINE button otherwise it shuts off making for a nap sneck and I don't have a rubber neck ... sorry but I feel better

They are not disappearing, Seth, just staying with appreciative owners. Latest amazing prices for 550s in the UK:

2,500 mile standard car, asking 160,000 ($237,000).

179,000 ($265,000) paid at auction for a 25,000 mile WSM model.

Best wishes, John

Well I'm certainly doing my best to push up the prices. She is staying!

Admiring her from the best possible place, behind the wheel of another Maranello - Vitalone's lovely Bluebird.

She just got 4 new shoes last week, can't wait to take her out for a long stint.

Seems like many Ferraris have been spiking in price lately.

Whilst the 550 has rebounded in price, others have really gone nuts; including the 308, 328, and TRs.

Not sure how sustainable this is. The 550 / 575 are fantastic cars and the price increase makes sense to me; however, I cannot see how the other cars can justify such price increases, when they are not very stellar performers and were made in high numbers.

Time will tell.

I almost bought a 550, but decided to go with the 612, which had the last iteration of that V12 engine.

Current: 2007 612 F1 HGTS
Previous: 1987 328 GTSi, 1983 512 BBi Boxer

Adam- Yup, quarter miles in the low 12s just do not hack it nowadays. Same with top speeds around 200 mph.

I've just sold my 5-speed manual 1987 412GT to a serious Ferrari collector for just under $100K. My old 1955 F355 berlinetta is now advertized at $109,888. Both are excellent and rare in condition and provenance. Nevertheless the market is telling us something about Ferrari models that have languished for a long time.

That said, I truly do not understand the market in the early 8-cylinder cars.

P.S. I too will not sell my 575M.

Wholly apart from the extraordinarily, even ultimately satisfying driving experience, as your photo shows once again, the Maranello continues to be almost heartbreakingly beautiful.
