SuperAmerica @$470K !!

Did anyone just see that?
I watched the RM Auction on line from Scottsdale AZ
SuperAmerica in Rosso Fiorino with Crema interior and 950 miles went for US$ 470K
Lot 252
If I recall the highest previous SA auction was around US$330K
Amazing!

Paul, looks like the music is still on. I understand it was a low, low mileage SA, but ... ?

Paul, wanted to thank you for your help to which I did purchase the black SA I was looking at. I would fill you in with details if interested. Much appreciated for your first hand owner comments.

I hope you get to love that roof Jimmy half as much as I do.

I'm so glad that you bought it. Pity that the 16M couldn't get squeezed in there also but I guess buying four convertibles in a month could have triggered a mandatory psychiatric evaluation. Buying only three keeps you narrowly below the radar. Maybe 16M in a month or so?

Respect your passion for your cars immensely.

Sir Paul and Jimmy, enjoy your very special Ferraris guys.

David.

Hi Jimmy. Pleased to hear you made the right choice!☺.
Enjoy the black SA and stop by when in HK and I can go through ask my "techniques" for preserving the roof.
What is the origin of the car and perhaps you can send the VIN and Assembly number to Terry (tazandjan) in the 575 section so he can update the records...... And a few photos of course!
Regards
Paul

Paul, as per recommended, I have done so already, posted in the sticky thread for 575 and SA, and also under the 288 GTO Search Completed thread, where I have posted some photos.

Just to reiterate few points, dealer Cornes import, two owners, HGTC, Daytona black seats with red inserts and pipings, lots of carbons, 29,000km, belts and pumps replaced few months ago, total clutch replaced at 19,000km so should be good for a while, and so on. Interesting note on the roof is that couple years back, this SA had the roof replaced due to this shop's fault where someone dropped an instrument and chipped or cracked the roof,...in other words, the roof should be good as new also.

Thank you for you kind invitation, Paul. I am sure I would return to HK in due time and I it would be fun to hook up then.

Jimmy,
Why they replaced the clutch at 19000 km ?
My 575 have 43000 and clutch (the same of SA) and have only 32% of usury.

Fabio, I really do not know the reasons behind it. Could be the owner's driving habits, road conditions difference (much more stop and go here and hills), and so forth. The car does not look abused at all and the maintenance records are complete and uneventful and routine. Nothing to be of concern, at least to me. Looking at it positively, clutch/flywheel assembly replaced about 10,000km prior means it should be good for some time to come (?). Either way, not a big concern.

The SA would be sent to Cornes dealer for maintenance and check ups prior to delivery.

Fabio, thanks. The shop is transporting the SA to Cornes dealer for routine maintenance and checkup to make sure everything is okay before delivery and the expense is part of the deal.

Fabio, with your skills and passions, you are miles ahead of a guy like myself who is beginning to learn to like it. You have my utmost respect !

Color selection is subjective and personal and we all have our favorite. For me, I am not too picky, but red is high on my list because it is the Italian color.

Once I get the SA delivered, I would take photos and make reports here to share.

Jimmy,
Yes the colour is a very personal taste.
I will be happy to read your reports and pictures of your wonderful SA.

First off Congratulations Jimmy, there is just something about a SuperAmerica, the only thing that I have against it is it's lack of a 3 pedal 6 speed Can't wait to see some photos of your new masterpiece.

Jaylan- They were available with three pedals. 39 were built that way.

Terry, has your research ever revealed how many HGTC and 3 pedal combinations were built?

Dan- No, have not discovered that. Probably less than 15, maybe way less. About 30-40% of SAs appear to have had HGTC, but at only 33, the number of LHD three pedals with HGTC is pretty statistically limited. Out of the 4 three pedals I have in my small database, only one has HGTC. Numbers too small to make any extrapolations.

Jaylan, should be getting the SA next week from delivery maintenance (they call it the yearly checkup). Taking longer time due to the order of brake hoses from Italy. Nothing wrong with the current but the dealer thought it would be prudent to replace with new ones.

Would start reporting my impressions as I get SA back. :steering wheel:

Jimmy

PS. Not sure what the drive feel/ impressions would be with three pedals, considering the high hp/ torque with SA ?

That combination in addition to low mileage would be the Grand Slam given the current resurgence in SuperAmerica interest
