Massimo's English is just passable so I don't think he's capable of explaining what he did to me in English, but perhaps I can ask Alex Armellini more about it and he can explain it to me. If he can, I will ask him if this type of upgrade can be done outside their shop. In that case I will let you know.

Clyde, "please take notes" was a figure of speech to gather what information you can to share with the forum. We all learn from each other. Very little has been done with F1 system performance upgrades.
So any successful work in this area would be interesting to learn.
After learning to drive the Maranello F1 I am very content with its performance. However, as you mentioned, we are always interested in improvements in performance wherever they come.

Bill I will try my best to take notes and gather information to share with the forum. Apparently Massimo has worked on other Ferrari F1s of other owners I know here (360s, F430s) and one other owner said he felt a real improvement on the track after he worked on it. Yes I know that very little has been done as far as improvements to the F1 system is concerned, but if there is someone who can do it its certainly Massimo because he has the knowledge after having worked on Schumacher's F1 and after helping develop the faster F430 F1 when he was at Ferrari.
Originally when I purchased my Maranello I was not really happy with the F1, it took me some time to adjust to it and get used to the driving style required for the F1. Still there are times when I wish it was a 3 pedal though the F1 wins hands down when driving in the city. I am sure the newer, faster F1s make a huge difference to the driving enjoyment.

Terry,
when i observed in detail the HGTC tails of my 575, i discovered some imperfections ... from distance are not visible, but from near yes ...
I done the inside pipe in SS 304L and the outside in SS 316 in order to have more corrosion resistance in the time, when will be mirror polished the corrosion resistance will increase again because the surface defects, where between grains there is the corrosion attack, will reduced at minimum ...

Hey Bill
I was at Daytona Auto and spoke to them today about the upgrading of the F1 box (smoothing it out). There are apparently 2 processes. The first is that Massimo Conti (who as I told you used to be one Schumacher's F1 mechanics at Scuderia Ferrari, and also helped develop the F1 box on the F430) supposedly opens it up and fiddles with it manually but they could not explain exactly what he does. I got the sense that he plays with the settings and through trial and error he massages it so that the shifts are smoother and a bit quicker. He works on each car on an individual basis and they said that each car is a bit different (surprising since we're basically talking about electronics here). Apparently the next step after that is an ECU upgrade. They have a tuner named AMT Tuning ([email protected]) that will do a software analysis of the F1 ECU and upgrade it to faster shifts. I spoke to him today and he says that though he hasn't previously worked on the 575 per se, he has worked on many 360s and F430s. He does a computer mapping of the F1 ECU and then will preform a software upgrade to speed up shift times. Its the equivalent of a flash upgrade and can similarly be reversed if desired.
That's the best I could understand, sorry if I wasn't more helpful.

Thank you Clyde! That was good and interesting to hear. Do you plan to move ahead with these improvements?
Would be interested to hear Taz's input on this. Mods to our F1 system have not been the easiest to achieve.
Would enjoy hearing impressions from a 575 owner after having these changes made.
Thanks again Clyde,
Bill

Yes Bill,
I am seriously considering it and if I move ahead I will do it in June. I want them to check my clutch first because if I need to do that soon it's a big bill and I don't want to undertake both things around the same time. If not then I'll do it, which means I'll delay my brake upgrade until next year.

Hello,
not so fast but works are in progress constantly .. hahaha
Last saturday i manufactured the outer bodies of the 550/575 back mufflers, it was an artisan work, i have bended by means of my manual calender and adjusted by means of hammer and hands ....
Result for me is nice, after that i made a little mold in order to made the "Z" bend necessary for the overlap of the two pieces.
Following some pictures .... In the first picture the three bending phases

Regards

I thought you might enjoy this video Fabio. I am sure you have seen the original video taken from the outside of the 575M during a hillclimb event in Italy, but I am not sure you saw this one from inside the car? Anyway here it is:
