That said I do want the 550 mufflers when they're available.

Keep up the good work Fabio, we're cheering for you.

Hello at all,
my workings are in progress ... not so fast but constant ...
This morning i tested the mold for last phase of the muffler support plate construction, i like the results!
I done a error during cad drawing of this plate, i mistake the development, it the picture you can see that the comleted plates have the two edges not perfectly in touch, this change little bit the pitch of the two holes, is normal, generally the bending withdrawal will be to chek on real ..
Now i correct my drawing for order final pieces..
Unfortunaltely i ordered 24 plates that are wrong

The second mold is for bend the round bar for do the support for the F550 center pipes, is not a technological mold but it work fine.

All molds that i posted are borned in my head, the molds are expensive but with them all the manufacturing pieces will have same dimensions and less tolerances.
Next week the outer pipes of tail pipes will be ready and for complete muffler i need only the main bended pipes ...
Also for main pipes i will spend 1000 eur for a special tool because the bending company, have not in his machine the eqiupment for the radius that i need ....

Best Regards

One thing that is so obvious is that you never cut corners but when you do it you do it right. It may cost a little more but it shows in the final product.

Hello,
Research and development are in progress ... perhaps is more development than research .. hahaha
For my new back muffler i found the pierburg bypass valves, from the Italian Pierburg dealer, but their price is crazy ...!!!
I found other valves on web and i purchased two ... but when arrived i discovered that they didn't close perfectly !!!
Supplier not have other kind, then i decided to modify by myself, i removed the valves (welded and bolted) and i built new valves by means of machining a SS plate (laser cut) in order to have the shape corrected to close the hole.
I hope that this valve will work ok, otherwise i need to buy from Pierburg, that is expensive but they work good 100%!!
Tomorrow i will pick up the outer pipes (SS 316 with border) for manufacture the complete tail pipes, one little company in Bologna done for me, outer pipes are not expensive but they done one specific equipment for do that... $$$.
Follow few pictures of the bypass valve and the equipment for the last phase of the tail pipes manufacture....

Very entertaining to watch these pieces come about. Fabio are you going to polish those (or have them polished), or leave them with a brushed look?

Ciao Bill,

Is my intention go to polish those but will be last phase before welding on the muffler, tails working cycle is a bit long ...

Today, at last, the pipes bend company, that will do pipes for my double H-pipes and mufflers, gave me the the bid ....
The equipment cost is so big .... but i not have other chance ....

Tomorrow morning, at 9:00 am Italian, i will have the dyno test of my 575 with my 6-1 exhaust system ....
From my driving sensations i'll expect approx 10-12%,
in other words 50-62 HP...

Ciao Fabio,
I am crossing my fingers and hoping that your dyno results show the additional 50-62 HP or more. This will be very interesting.
Also, I have a question. My shop (Alex Armellini @ Daytona) has offered me an engine ECU upgrade (not a flash upgrade but a chip upgrade) which he claims will net me about a 40 HP gain, do you think its wise to do this? In addition, Massimo Conti (former Schumacher mechanic and developer of the F430's faster F1) who works there has offered to work on my F1 to smooth out and speed up the shifts (I am actually more excited about this).
What is your opinion?

Ciao Clyde,
i think that if only the ECU upgraded you have 40 HP gain .. with my exhaust how much i will gain?.... and ECU + exhaust? 100 hp? = F599 ...
I have some doubt about 40 hp (is only my supposed) because is the 7.7% of the max power but i never done this and if Alex said this, i think is true.

I supposed in my case 10/12% for follow reasons:
- i removed big CAT - 600 cps? (+3%?)
- i removed the little pre cat - 600 cps? (+3%?)
- i installed only one big area CAT 200 cps
- my header have more scaverning in comparison to the original very bad designed headers. (+6%?)
total = 3+3+6 = 12%

About F1 speed up the shifts you can go without problems, normal 575 have 220 ms shift time , HGTC have 180 ms .... probably can go also little bit down ...
I like the F1 of my HGTC, my dealer tell tme that in some conditions (slow driving) is better that the F599 F1 ...

My opinion about the two upgrades is:
if price is ok for you, go on!!! For sure the enjoy of your 575 will increased ...

Fabio

Clyde, please take notes if you go ahead with the F1 work. This will be very interesting on what he can do, expense involved, and whether it can be done outside their shop.
Fabio, think we are all anxious for your dyno results. Also which middle pipes and silencers chosen for the test.

Ciao Bill,

my actual configuration exhaust is follow:
- my 6-1 headers with 200 cps CAT
- my central double H-pipes
- orignal bach pipes
- HGTC back mufflers.
- ECU's orignal, not modified !!

At the moment is the best configuration that i tested ...for my taste.
I think that my new back muffler could have low (not more) counter pressure instead of the HGTC muffler, but as you know, i'm investing more money for do the equipment for bending and before two months not will be ready ...

I have the thermocouples in before CAT and one hole for external oxigen sensor, tomorrow i hope that i will can register those parameters during test, are interesting for know hoe the engine running.
I registered by myself on road and datas was good ...

Regards

Fabio

Thanks for your comments Fabio. Actually I am more interested in the adjustment of the F1 shifting than I am for the ECU performance upgrade because its quite expensive, but its psychological, once someone offers you the chance at more horsepower with no downside, what Ferraristi in his right mind would refuse that?
I think your calculations about your performance upgrade are quite conservative Fabio, and I have a feeling you will realize a greater performance upgrade than you think.
I wonder if the adjustment of my F1 is basically upgrading to the HGTC spec that you've specified, because Massimo was at Ferrari when they offered this, but I have no way of knowing this for sure?
Anyway if I go ahead with this upgrade, which I am seriously considering, the only major upgrade I have left to do on my 575 is to improve the brakes which I then may leave to next year.

Hi Bill,
I am not sure how I am supposed to take notes on this? I will be leaving my car with them (Daytona Auto where Massimo works) to do this upgrade so I will not be present when the work will actually be performed. Massimo's English is just passable so I don't think he's capable of explaining what he did to me in English, but perhaps I can ask Alex Armellini more about it and he can explain it to me. If he can, I will ask him if this type of upgrade can be done outside their shop. In that case I will let you know.

Hello guys,
dyno test of this morning it is blown ...
At 6.00 i had in my cellular a sms from the guy of the company who is in the bed with fever ....
I think is not true .... i think they have at the last minutes another commitment ....
I hope next week i will do ....
I spent time for go on with the tail pipes working, follow a picture of refinishing with lathe and tail pipe assembled.
Tail is not finish, lacking the mirror polishing of the outer pipe ...
I showed to my dealer and he likes very much, for him is better refinished that original HGTC.
