Taz- the build plate on my car says Sept. 2001 and the vin# is 125765. I've always thought that it was one of the last builds, however based on the numbers you have come up with, this isn't the case. Do you know when they stopped building the 550?

Welcome to Ferrari Life. The last 550 I show is 126807, a US spec MY 01 550 built around Dec 2001. This late in production would normally have been MY 02, but all the last 550s, 126800-126807, were sold as MY 01s. May have been a change in EPA rules that needed the Motronic 7.1.1 fitted to the 575M to pass. Common Ferrari ploy, seen on the 456, where MY 95s were built quite late in 95, no MY 96s, and then MY 97s very early in 96 with Motronic 5.2 and the Jan 1996 required OBDII.

Late production

Tax- Thanks for the reply, what I'm not understandin is if my car was built in September and final production was in December, how many more cars could they have possibly built in 3 months, that's a big spread in numbers.

Not, that many. Production was winding down and 550s were built in small batches, interspersed with preproduction 575Ms, all through Fall 01. Yours was the last of a batch of about 7 or 8, there was another batch of 20-30 starting around 126020, and then the ones I mentioned above. So yours was around 50 from the last one I show at 126807, after which 575Ms go into full production.

late production

Taz- Thanks for the information, that makes sense. Just got this car after an exhaustive search, I found the exact car I was looking for. Ive owned a lot of different cars in my personal collection, none that I have enjoyed more, this one truly is "that special car"

Another late low mileage 550 pops up in Switzerland. I've not seen a quilted transmission tunnel before...

Leather covered tunnels and quilting, plus leather rear bulkheads, were some of the unwritten options available on 550s and 575s.

The listing for the car that was the subject of this thread and is pictured in #15 has been pulled, possibly indicating a sale. Good luck to the new owner!

It isn't me (sadly), but I did have a quick look at it and it was remarkable to see one in such honest original but un-detailed condition. The only interior part that needed immediate attention appeared to be the drivers door electric window button that looked like it had melted but the other trim parts were only just beginning to go tacky.
