A cousin for the 612

The 612 asked me for a closer relative than the M5.

So out with the BMW and in with the Maserati, 2007 Sport GT DuoSelect. Car had only 8,440 miles and had been traded for a Range Rover !!!

I am quite suprised as to how many interior parts are shared between the 2 cars !

Congrats Shiv! Lovely colour combo for your QP.

I had a duo-select QP as my daily driver for a year or more and really enjoyed it. My advice, put it in sport mode all the time and use the paddles to shift gear. It can be as smooth as you like once you don't try to drive it as an auto.

It definitely shrinks around you when you push on, on the country roads too. I must admit I miss it (and co-incidently I traded mine for a Land Rover too!).

Enjoy!

Shiv- Very pretty QP. Should be fun to drive and the Maserati V8 sounds really nice.

Thanks for the nice words guys.

I always drive it in Manual/Sport, same as I did with the BMW M5 SMG.

I have also ordered the Formula Dynamics DBW module, as well as their ECU and sway bars.

Shiv- I never use Sport until she is fully warmed. Just a personal habit to be easier on the transmission.

Terry,
Never thought of that as a precautionary measure. What's the risk involved with sport from the get go (and pardon the ignorance of my Q!)

Barry- Probably nothing, but the shifts are harder in Sport, so I prefer to err on the side of caution.

I definitely treat the 612 differently, getting her really warm before doing anything.

But the QP, I don't have that luxury, since we are always late for school :-)

On Friday's which is our F car day which also has less traffic in general, my middle son checks on me that I'm on time, disconnects the charger, calls me to start warming her up, and puts the boards out (you see them in the garage picture, allows me to enter/exit the garage without scraping the air dam) so that we can reverse up the hill.

If I do it when cold, you can smell the clutch for several hours.

Nice one, congrats! I think blue is the best colour for the QPs...also on the new SQ4. Incidentally I'm currently tempted by a 4200 Coupe...I also noticed that it shares some interior parts with its contemporary, the 456M. Then again, is it all that surprising?

Thanks for the kind words folks, I have just found a nice pair of GranTurismo Trident wheels and once they are on, I will post some pictures of the two cars side by side in the glorious California sunshine !

I had to make some mods to the QP to make it usable:

1) Formula Dynamics Sport Springs (without lowering, I live in the mountains)
2) Formula Dynamics Anti-Sway bars
3) Formula Dynamics ECU
4) Formula Dynamics DriveByWire (DBW)
5) Michelin Pilot SuperSport (replaced stock Pirellis)
6) Maserati GranTurismo 2013 Trident wheels
7) Tubi Race exhaust (wife said take it off, so now it's gone ), will get the Tubi Street next

Shiv- She is really pretty, especially with those wheels, and the interior is gorgeous. I always liked the styling on the QP before they slightly changed the nose (I think) when they went to the automatic transmission. The early QPs are really a bargain, although I do not think I could convince Jan to give up her GL 550. Plus we need it for fly fishing.

Terry, there were a few grill changes from convex to concave. And I hear you about the GL, my wife has an LX 570 that is non negotiable and we need it to tow the jet ski !

Cheers,
Shiv

Shiv- Very pretty, both of them, and you can see the Pininfarina family resemblance.
