575 f1 transmission

Hi guys,
There are 2 cars available to me,in my last post I was asking about a 550. I have been talked out of a 575 by a specialist f mechanic, you see I live 3 hours from anyone that can fix it,and he suggests that the f1 is not quite reliable, the 575 is Red, not my first choice but it has lots of options and has been driven hard. The 550 is blue(more my colour)and being manual my guy says a lot mor reliable. Do you all agree ?

Cheers
Marce

Marce- Tech is full of it. Have had my F1 575M for nearly 6 years and absolutely no problems with the F1 system, which is ideally suited to a high torque V12. As long as the F1 fluid is changed regularly, about every three years, or as soon as you get it. Expect a long trouble-free life from the F1 system.

3 hours? The nearest dealer to me is 8 hours away. My local techs have no trouble maintaining her. Bought them a 575M workshop manual and they were set. With no SD2, we swap half the F1 fluid at every annual change. If I had a dealer with an SD2 three hours away, I would drive there every 3 years and have the F1 system flushed, filled and bled.

More reliability

I have had my F1 575 for nearly four years. Now on 23000 miles (12000 in my hands0 and no problems whatsoever with the transmission. Original clutch as far as I can tell. I still think the F1 transmission makes a better driver out of me, although my new Cayman S with manual box might challange that statement........ (Apologies to purists for mentioning that other make..........)

Simon- About the same as me. 21,500 miles on the original clutch and 13 mm of throw-out bearing pin travel remaining.

When I bought my hgtc he had 38500 km and the dealer shown me that, by the SD tester, clutch wear was 31 %, remain 69 %, clutch have worked in very good way.
I have drived in one year 3000 km without problems at F1 system , for honesty nothing kind of problems .... The car is much affidable.

I drive a 456M stick and normally am a stick purist. But after driving a 575HGTC F1 last week, the only ever Maranello I'd like to have is a 575F1 (minimum FHP).

On my 575 have about 24,000 km, original clutch , the measurement from the SD indicated 35% wear. Guess Fabio`s car has been driven better than mine !

Alex,
next month i will for a annual service and i will see if there is an wear increase, in one year of my mode driving.
The pedal clutch wear is influenced from the driving style but the F1 clutch is more influenced, specially on start phase is good not waver but push gas with decision (obviously not too).
Our clutch wear not depend by us, but by the owners before...
