456GT - airbags and no airbags....any other differences?

heya guys....i had asked this question on the other forum with no help....hope someone here could shed some light....i have done searches as well but couldn't find any help on this particular set of questions I have in regards to the original 456GT.....thanks

in the 456GT (not the M version) I have seen some with and some without airbags......besides this were there any other differences? are the earlier non airbags version any more or less desirable than the airbag version?
i understand the earlier ones were 2.7Motronic. were all non airbag versions 2.7M and were all airbags fitted models 5.2M? were there any power difference (as in the 355s )between the 2.7M and 5.2M?

thanks for all the needed info..cheers.

There was no claimed hp difference despite the different, and one-off, firing order. Ferrari used the same firing order used since the 125 on all the other street V12s except the 456M.

Airbags or not depends on country of delivery. All US spec 456s, 2.7 and 5.2, were equipped with airbags. So it does not appear 2.7 and 5.2 were the only criteria. Which other countries were airbag equipped, no clue.

Download owners manuals and a 456 workshop manual from ferraridatabase.com and see if you can puzzle out the answer yourself.

thanks Taz,

i had initially thought they had changed the firing order only on the M version...so all 456s had the same firing order which was different from the ones Ferrari used on other street V12s?

and for the US models, i get it from what you say that the very first car brought in had airbags already....

thanks again

No, only the 456M had the unique firing order. The 456 GT/GTA had the same firing order as the 125 and F12 and everything on the street in between..
