Pulling the trigger on a 599

New to the forum here... Located in the US

Contemplating pulling the trigger on a lightly used (1100) mile '08 599.

Someone talk me out of it or into it...

Discuss...

Cheers.

Welcome to Ferrari Life. The 08s are a good choice because there were upgrades to the Motronic ECUs and the CCM brakes became standard. CTEK battery maintainer is also standard with a connector in the trunk for easy hook-up. 599 is just about as quick as a ZR1 Corvette, especially in the higher speed ranges, and has proven to be very reliable. Sharing a new aluminum chassis with the 612 and a mildly detuned Enzo engine, the 599 also has a modern, up to date interior fitted to a very high standard. At current prices, 599s are a bargain for what you get at less than half MSRP. Odds of running up against a faster car are virtually zilch.

If you go to ferraridatabase.com, you can download a 599 owners manual and read up on all the features.

Yep... Finally did it! Pulled the trigger on a 2007 F1 HGTE.
Daytona black on black.
PPI done by mark at Sphere in Houston and outside of some sticky buttons, and a bit of rash under the bumper from parking slabs, the car is straight as an arrow and runs like a champ.
Pick her up tomorrow. Can't wait (although the mrs is less than excited)

Congratulations on getting something that may be almost as much fun as an F/A-18. Looking forward to seeing some photos.

Little else in the world compares to throwing yourself at 98,000 tons of steel at night in a fighter, but this is about as close as it gets without a racing license on four wheels!

Pics to follow tomorrow night! (Probably can't tell I'm a bit excited!)

No night traps for me, but 100s of hours on TFR at night. Even let people shoot at me while on TFR in the first unpleasantness in the Gulf.

Enjoy!

Always though the 599 HGTE was the way to go - great colors combination.

Had the PPI done by Mark at Crave in Houston (where the car resided). His evaluation was spot on!

Solid car and the interior is like new… Not a single mark or scratch and it even smells new!

Hadn't driven an HGTE until today but what a difference compared to a 599 without it. Poor thing is covered with bugs and we got rained on twice on the way from Houston to Dallas.

Amazing vehicle.

Beautiful interior and she looks brand new. Enjoy her. Halfway to a GTO for 1/3 the cost. Not a bad deal. GTO wheels fit 599s, too.

Well done. Nero is a great colour on the 599 and HGTC is the choice I would make too. Interesting interior for an HGTC, no alcantera but contrasting stripes on full leather...nice. Are there "Handling GTC" monograms on the headrests?

By the way the more bugs means the better the weather and the more your enjoying your new car. And the rain will only soften the bugs for later cleaning.....doesn't melt Ferrari's at all, despite what some might say!

Cheers

No. The only thing not included in the HGTE package were the headrests. Everything else is included. Great question. When I started considering this vehicle, I had to research that very question.

Pretty sure, but not 100%, that the headrest monogram was only on the factory-installed package.

At least, that's what I was able to find out.

Anyone know for sure?

I think you are right, you could probably buy the seats from Ferrari, but it would be cheaper to buy a car with them on !
I must say your car looks great, and Daytona seats too I have had mine for a few years now, went out today a gave it some stick, and came back with a big grin on my face. The engine sure sounds great

The package on the 599 is actually the HGTE package. HGTC was on 575Ms and 612s. This must be a fairly late 599, after serial number 156938, or the HGTE performance kit cannot be fitted because of the upgrade to Motronic 7.3.2 in Summer 2007.

Terry correct, fingers lost connection to the brain.....but interesting all the same to see a full leather HGTE 599. I've not seen that before.

I do think all the factory fitted Handling GTE cars had the monograms but of course you probably could delete it if wanted. The dealer fitted ones didn't get this.

Cheers
