456M Radiator - tarmac grinder

I have encountered a few problems with the 456M radiator hitting the tarmac - generally on sudden, sharp dips - or the undertray hitting and impacting the radiator and wondered if anyone knew of a cure at all? Water leaks follow! Putting in a bash plate might help and I had thought of shortening the radiator core but then the mounting points don't match.
Appreciate any suggestions or other experiences.
I understand 550/575's do this as well - not that I have experienced it in mine.
Cheers

Philip

Adjusting your coilovers for a higher ride height should help, and slightly taller tires will too.

Here's a solution I came up with for my 550 (there are two videos there - just click the photos):

Appreciate the feedback - I have 19" modular rims for the 575 so am going to put the 18" onto the 456. Might help a little and will check out ride height adjusters. Cheers

Philip- Tire diameter is the determination of ground clearance and the 18" and 19" Maranello wheel and tire combinations are all 26" in diameter, plus or minus about 0.20". The 17" wheel and tire combination on the 456M is also about 26", 26.04" F and 25.98" rear, so changing to 18" or 19" wheels with OEM size tires (255/40 18 F, 295/35 18 R, 255/35 19 F, 305/30 19 R) will not change ground clearance significantly on the 456M.

No problems with scraping on my 575M at all.

On your 456M, I would check and make sure she is at OEM ride height. She may have settled a bit. Assume you already have a 456M WSM from ferraridatabase.com, which contains recommended ride height.

Hi Taz appreciate the reply. Understand completely about the tyres/wheels. To be fair I think the problem is more to do with the roads where quite often there is a short bump or rise catching the car before it has a chance to level or a sudden change in ground angle - like an earthquake lifted section for example. That said there is a definite shortage of clearance in the 456 and the hoses are at risk as well. Typical Ferrari design that caters to boulevards and not windier, twistier, bumpier roads like you find on English lanes. The ride height is fine - we have checked that.
It is a bit like the wipers that grind on the top of the bonnet on the 575/550 - may just be a RHD fault? Not sure if you get that on LHD? Will post a pic one day.
Cheers and keep up the great work. Philip

Philip- No problem with the wipers here, although they do not get much of a work-out in New Mexico. We have only had 0.7"/18 mm of rain so far for the entire year.
