Will a 599/612 do 200'000km's ?

Maybe a very dumb question...of course depends on the caretaker. Question arose today because suddenly a 599 GTB 2006, with ful carbon spec, Daytona seats and new carbon ceramic disks Grey Silverstone/black has been offered for 75' Euro's. 56' k on the odometer is a lot. I was looking at the car since 2 years, not because of buying interest but because of market interest. The seller is nearby and I looked at the car (driven 1'000km since then) 2 years ago, at that time offered for around Euro 130' !

599 is not really my car as I think it is a big Dolphin, however price wise it gets interesting. A 10'k car same Age and same Options will be around 105-110' Euro. So the additional 40'k puts the Price 30-35% down within the Price range of a great 575M with good specs (except for GTC's). So such thought would make sense if the car would be driven to 100'k....150' k maybe 200' k
What are your thoughts ?

212- I would think a well maintained 599 should have no problems going 200,000 kms. Same for a 612, which has essentially the low stressed 575M engine with manifolding and ECU changes.

Define "last"? Most any of the standard road cars have the ability to run a very long time. How much maintenance are you willing to carry out during the tenure?

Just as with any car running a Variable Valve timing system, it will become more needy and more expensive as mileage wears on, timing chains, guides and tensioners will need to be replaced, the F1 system will need servicing a couple times, many ball joints, tie rods and control arm bushings, probably a couple sets of wheel bearings...then you have the electronics.

Fundamentally, the cars are fairly stout. Unfortunately, the consumables are very much that and replacements cost a premium.

For example, here in the US, the Maserati QP which tends to see a normal amount of mileage and is built similarly wears and tears a good bit. I routinely write estimates on cars with over 20K, $5k on decent cars and $10k estimates on cars that are neglected.

Engine should not need a rebuild until your target mileage.

If 599 = Dolphin and Dolphin = Eco friendly. Then 599 = Eco friendly. So a 599 is an Eco car like a smart car!

I've been thinking about getting a 599 and this might just tip the balance

No problem, I've found that it always easier to tell the truth in the beginning instead of explaining after the fact I agree with Boxer that a major overhaul of the engine and trans shouldn't be an issue until serious mileage has been racked up.

I met someone who did 160,000kms in his 550 in three years. Didn't have any problems. I don't really see a reason why a 599 or 612 couldn't do something similar or even more. But I do think the car would be worth very little after you had your fun. Nobody (at least for the foreseeable future) will want to buy a 599 or 612 with that mileage.

I read about a British 360 with 200.000clicks and no signs of giving up. The owner apparently traded it in for another 360.

Instead of a 599 ECO. suggest you opt for a 599 GTO.

Compared to the exhaust fumes of my old 330GTC, I'm sure even the 599GTO can be called eco.
