612 vs 575

the 612 are becoming attractive in price 123000 for 2006... many components the same in 575 I believe similar to 612..i.e. trans and engine
with 575 2003's going for 100000 plus or minus. and 2004 110000.

my question is there a compelling reason to get 575 over 612 mechanically...styling on 612 seems to be more reserved...575 sexier? and of course which drives/ handles better considering Ferrari upgrades identified by Taz in one of the posts

my reason... touring..i have the time..why not put it to good use... I also like the 430..but do I need a car on steroids

by the way I am partial to Azzurro California with cream interior

appreciate any comments

ps in Naples there is one 2003 575 for sale 99000 also from from Ferrari NEW England.. both black Newport Beach Ferrari has 612 for 123000...tempting

I too was conflicted on the same issue but opted for the 575m based on the design of the car. The 612 would have enabled me to get a 2 year newer car for around the same money.

Agree lines/design of the panels are more exciting..nicer too

Aside from the visual for the money is the 612 still a better buy...I know emotions and passion come into play.

As a follow up will review improvements offset conventional lines of the 612

Really need to drive them both and then see which you prefer. Very different cars and they are a generation apart in terms of core development. The 575 feels like more of a sports car but nothing with four seats in its class moves better than a 612.

i traded my 612 for a 575 last year. very different driving feel from the two cars. despite the close match on paper performance, on the road the 575 seems like a sports car while the 612 is a pondering, but powerful, boulevard cruiser. the F1 shifters in both cars are a bit blah, nothing like the FF shifter. i would opt for the manual tranny in both cars. and also, i would opt for a 612 OTO with the 599 drivetrain if i were to buy another 612, mostly for the later generation drivetrain. i like both cars, so you won't go wrong with either as long as you dont expect the 612 to be a canyon carver. possibly the 575 is a better buy as it is a better all arounder, with its ability to be a true sports cars (get the FHP/HGTC packages) but also civilized with modern conveniences and modern ease of use for leisurely cruising.

Agree with everyone above. I think the 575 is more of a sports car, and the 612 better suited for long highway cruising, not that the 612 is not sporty...

Guess all depends on what you're looking for. Like Boxer said, I'd test drive both and see which suits your needs better

Good luck....it's nice having problems like this!

Maserati GranTurismo MC - Giallo yellow
Porsche 911 GT3 RS - black with orange accents - wife's car
F355 Berlinetta - Giallo Modena, 6-speed manual, carbon sport seats -recently traded in
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Highly recommend that either choice include the HGTC pkg. makes a huge difference if you want to have a sporty nature
