Heating/Ventilation Overlays

Hello everyone
Who here has had experience with overlays for the heating/ac controls to overcome the 'sticky' finish problem? I've seen an 'overlay' for sale that looks like it will fix the problem but I'm wondering how easy it is to disassemble the facia to remove the original. What is the consensus regarding the home performed fix?
Regards
Dave

Dave, it isn't terribly difficult. It's just tedious, taking the time to make sure the surface is fully prepared for the new overlay. I prefer to send them to Sticky no More to ensure it's done perfectly.

Being in New Zealand, I'm a little wary about sending pieces of my car half way around the world, so I was hoping I could do this myself. Is disassembly the same as for the 355? - screw under the ashtray?

Understandable. Yes, if you pop the ashtray out, you can access the screw to remove that assembly, which allows you to push up on the HVAC assembly from the bottom.

There are instructions available on Youtube, outlining the overlay replacement procedure. They're very helpful.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I can't register for some reason (my lack of French probably). Would you be able to copy it to my email if possible?

Also:

I'm trying to remove the HVAC unit at the moment. I've removed the ashtray but the HVAC unit won't simply 'pop' out being pushed from behind. Is there a trick to it? Has the stickiness of the old cover 'sealed' it in? Suggestions please?
