Help! 612 Scaglietti Anniversary (2009) vs. Bentley Continental V8 (2013)

Virtually same price point. Own two Bentley already, but always return to them (and they sit in different locations/homes). Scaglietti drives like a beast. Too hard to maintain? Truly every day car? Will it keep depreciating a lot? Too ostentatious? (It's a gold anniversary edition). My first Ferrari, so struggling...

Kit,

Hang on just a little, I just got from Marseille to Northern Catalunya in my Scag and I will write about my nice drive in a minute. I just need to smoke my cigar. The nice hotel staff let me smoke inside in spite of the ban, bless them.

Meantime consider 500 kilo less to haul, that's one of the differences...

I always wanted a Bentley but went with the 612.

No regrets - then I bought the Bentley SS Conv and the 612 just sat.

Mostly because my 16M shifting ruined the 612 for me.

Probably sell the Bentley and look at the FF or 599 HGTE but it's hard to beat the SS Conv.

Having three Bentley's the same would be pointless IMO, unless you have the Continental, Flying Spur and Mulsanne.

If all are almost identical in their purposes and aren't collectibles then go for the 612.

Kit- Welcome to Ferrari Life. What is a Gold Anniversary 612? There were 60 year 612s (Sessantas) that served as prototypes for the 612 OTO, but I have never heard of a Gold Anniversay 612, unless it was a country specific model celebrating 50 years of sales in that country. That happened in 2004 in the US.

612s have been very reliable and usually only need annual services and a cambelt change every five years, plus other services at 15,000 and 30,000 mile intervals (air cleaners, spark plugs, etc).

I think he is referencing the 60 year plaque which my 2006 had.

But A lot of people say the anniversary was the OTO.

The 60 Sessenta's are one heck of a Ferrari - especially how some of them were spec'd.

Thank you and other questions

Hi, guys. Helpful, thanks.

A few things:
1) The 612 purchase is in Dubai, so maybe that explains "Anniversary" terminology? It is a 2009, gold metallic paint, with dark and light tan seats. About 8,000 km. Is Anniversary in this context same as the OTO? What exactly is the One-to-One in terms of features?

2) Champagne612, that Bentley SS conv looks great. My SS is in a colder climate, so it's a coupe--and the purist in my likes the coupe better. BUT I did spring for a regular continental conv in France--and it is the perfect car for there.

3) So, am thinking of springing for the 612 today, actually. Still struggling with whether it will be too ostentatious with the gold paint...anyway. Before I make the move, can someone break down for me the differences in feel/drive/durability/maintenance of the 612 vs the 599? I guess the higher-end 599s?

Sorry for my naiveté. Remember: first Ferrari!

Thanks.

IMHO, the Bentley SS is one of the best looking cars in the world. Don't sell it! give it me!

The 612 - very reliable and understated / capable as a spirited GT car.

Back seats are as usable as the Bentley - believe it or not

OTO - One to one program. The 599 transmission quicker shifting and a few other upgrades.

Belts on the 612 and maintenance aren't bad whatsoever. I put 10k miles on the car with almost no issues.

Mine had the sports package - IMO the only way to go and will run circles around the SS

That's a beautiful 612, why did you sell it?

To OP, kit, welcome. I do not think the 612 is too ostentatious at all. Actually I think it is one of the more reserved designs for Ferrari but still turns heads and very classy too.

If you own 2 Bentleys, why a third? Unless you absolutely love them

Good luck!

Now that's the truth! Once in an argument with the wife, and she showed me how much I'd have to pay just in child support if we ever divorced (And not counting alimony etc). Holy sh*t!...it's way cheaper to stay married!!
