575 Air Conditioner

Is there any way to ventilate the interior of the car with heat without turning on the AC compressor? I see no point to use the air compressor when ambient air is cool and dry.

Vafa since no one more knowledgeable has stepped in, I'll try. On your A/C controls there are two pop out type buttons. I believe that one is a recycle/max air type button, think the one on right. And the other(on left) is to turn compressor on and off. You may want to check your owners manual for more info.
Hopefully if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Yes - but without the compressor turned on, ambient outside air is brought into the cabin regardless what temperature is set. In other words, the air is not heated unless the compressor is turned on. Have you experienced this also?

Vafa- The owners manual says that if you turn the compressor off with the button, you can then control the temperature with the temp dial. Different, I believe, from the 550.

Well then Iust have a problem because with compressor off, and fan set to auto, nothing happens.

Vafa, just for grins try it in something like bi-level with fan set to speed. In other words off "auto", just to see if you get anything out of it.

Okay - I called Ferrari Atlanta and was told the manual is wrong. On US models, you cannot selectively control the AC compressor in heat mode. In other words, if you wish to heat the cabin, the car chooses whether the compressor is needed. In the manual, it states the compressor may be shut off and the car heated or cooled with the fan set to auto. Selecting any fan speed will only bring outside ambient air into cabin.

Vafa- If the ambient temperature is below 59 F at cold start, the compressor will not activate until the water temperature comes up to normal. At that point the compressor will activate and mix cold air with heated air to give the temperature selected on the climate control. If the temperature is above 59 F, the compressor comes on at engine start.

I had that written up earlier before I looked in the OM and deleted it. If you spring for the workshop manual sold by Ricambi, it explains all the details on the A/C system.
