Seth,
perhaps i will be on center of Ravenna in "Piazza Del popolo" where 1000 miglia will pass for a very short greeting, but if you will stay in Italy few days, after race, for sure we will meet and share a meal ..

That sounds like your cue for a European tour after you have completed the purchase, before the car goes back to the States. It would be nice to turn up at the factory in your own Ferrari and I hope you would be suitably welcomed if you did.

Or you could keep it in Europe and come over more regularly. I have often toyed with the idea of doing the same in the other direction, i.e. buying and keeping a car in the USA to explore a country of which I know comparatively little (I have no experience beyond New York, San Francisco, LA and Dallas) over several years, but it has never got beyond the "nice idea" stage.
It's an auto, John. I would have preferred a 5-speed like my former 412 but the provenance - V.P Club Ferrari France - complete service history and the sound mechanical condition weighed heavily. Besides, this is a car that Judith can drive. ;-) I've arranged with the seller to keep the car until spring when Ferraris and the like come out of winter hibernation. Was thinking about using it following our hoped-for run in the Mille Miglia but a bit concerned running about Europe with the terror incidents threatening and popular disaffection with signs of wealth. Or ought I not to be thinking so?

Speaking of provenance, the 412's first owner was a Swiss woman, la Comtesse Gerlinde de Picciotto, and the car delivered to her on March 12, my father's birthday! How's that for good signs?

Admiral- I was in Norway early in 1961, so Oakland was closed about the time I got to Palos Verdes in August 1961. Spent three summers in Ankara, Turkey and also flew out of Incirlik while stationed in the UK. We both moved around, it seems. 14 years in Europe for me, from 1958-1991.

My wife only drives autos, too - one of the best reasons I know for having a manual gearbox

Terrorism threat much overrated: you are more likely to win the lottery than to bump into a terrorist. A beautiful classic like the 412 attracts admirers, not vandals.

Hello guys, today there was a nice sun, dry street and 12 °C ... I could not resist .... last time that i drove my 575 was in the night of the times, one month ago...
Engine started immediately with his nice note, and immediately I felt better ....
I waited that temperatures was at running level and I did a tour of 30 km, slow and fast ....
I love, no sorry... I love her !
Every time that I run near a walls, or under bridges with bypass open seems to drive the old 640 of nigel Mansell ....

I took a short video by my smartphone when I passed under a short bridge...

Best at all

Hello, every saturday i go to my mom with my little daughter (3 years old), home of my mom oģis the place where i have my workshop and where sleeps my HGTC.
Two saturdays ago my little Linda told me 'daddy i want to see the red car', i opened the door and she was happy to go inside .... she played with the steering wheel ...
The following saturday I wanted drive but when i turned the key, battery was down .... evidently she played also with other things because in my 575 the battery never went down in garage .... ahahaha
But she was happy

Fabio- She has really grown and is a little cutie. She was probably playing with the paddles. That will drain a battery in a hurry.

I was told with my 550 anything over two weeks hook up the battery tender, I've always stuck with that advice (:

Cheers

Ciao Bill,
also on my previous F550 the max battery durability in a garage was two weeks, and I disconnected the battery every time, but my actual HGTC also after one month in a garage the battery is ok.

Best

Fabio,

You need one of these:

https://www.ravpower.com/car-jump-st...ery-black.html

Small enough to fit in the glove-box, powerful enough to start most cars most of the time. I started my 550 with this when the battery was so dead it would not even keep the car locked.

Best wishes, John

I have a CTEK battery monitor for my 550 and 355. With the quick disconnect, it's no headache and either car starts with a punch no problem.

Similar to Fabio I can easily get through two weeks out of my now 7 year old Braille battery without a charge and likely still close to a month. The 575 has only been on a charger for extended down periods.

Fabio good to see Little Linda following in your enthusiasm for the Red car!

Well, here's the Brescia update, we were not selected for the 2017 Mille Miglia - oh, sadness! But still alive, healthy, not in jail and, as Taz occasionally notes, when Judith and I awakened this morning, an hour out of kilter due to summer time beginning (summer? are you kidding? air temp here at 7AM was -14 C.), no one was shooting at us so all is good.

Today is my dad's 120th birthday - Happy Birthday Dad!

And today is the 31st anniversary of the delivery to la Comtesse de Picciotto of my new blu sera/beige 412
